The General English Program (GEP) teaches English communicatively. Students learn through interaction in English, and by performing action-oriented tasks. Their improvement is tracked weekly, so each student can progress at their own rate, from beginner to advanced! Just decide how long you would like to study English, as well as how many English lessons you would like to take a week — 16, 20 or 25 lessons, and we will take care of the rest! Schedule: Tuesday To Friday. 8:30 – 12:10 OR 13:20 – 17:00, schedule will be determined by the class level.

St Giles London Highgate offers General English course group or one-to-one lessons, which help English students communicate more effectively and confidently in everyday situations and improve their speaking and listening skills.

Description​General English programmes are suitable for everyone and provide a good foundation in the main linguistic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. With a strong focus on communication skills, these courses also provide a solid foundation in the key skills required in the Trinity College London ISE Examinations as well as Cambridge examinations.The method used is task-based, which means that by the end of each level students are expected to be able to complete a certain amount of tasks through English. There is a central course book and workbook and teachers supplement these using authentic materials such as newspapers, magazines, menus, manuals, brochures and a range of other books.All courses incorporate the use of Digital Interactive Whiteboards, the Internet and audio-visual technology. AwardISI Certificate in English. This programme allows Non-EU students to progress through at least two levels over an 8-month period and gain a professional, internationally-recognised English qualification. Students on this programme can work 20 hours per week during the 6-month study period, and 40 hours per week during the 2 month holiday.
Award
All students who successfully complete the programme receive the ISI Certificate in English. Non-EU students must complete an official examination at the end
of the programme such as Trinity ISE, FCE, CAE and IELTS.
Entry requirements
Students should be at least 18 years old on the course start date.
Students on Academic Year Academic Year 15 (AY15) programmes are integrated with the General English classes. This creates an international mix of students, each doing courses of different durations. With a full 25-week programme, Academic Year students can expect to progress through at
least two levels during their course before completing their final exit examination. Our morning classes offer a greater international mix of students, while the
discounted afternoon classes tend to have fewer nationalities.

Intensive CourseThe Intensive Course covers the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and is designed to improve communication in spoken and written English. To build students’ confidence, accuracy and fluency, two class teacher work closely together to provide learner-focused lessons.Classes are held in the mornings and the timetable for our Intensive Course is ideal for students who want free time to join in our social programme, spend time with their friends or work on a part-time basis.

ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks.

Flexible Programs At the end of the four-week session, your language level will be assessed and you can choose new courses and/or move up a level in your current course. English Foundation Learn core language skills to develop a solid English foundation. This course will prepare you for further study in many of ILSC’s study streams such as Communication, Humanities, Business, Test Preparation and Academic Preparation. Communication Improve your communication skills through dynamic group activities focusing mainly on speaking and listening. Interact with your classmates in different social circumstances; both real and role-played situations.

The General English course at St Giles Cambridge is designed to benefit students who hope to communicate with confidence and ease in real-life situations. The main goal is to improve speaking and listening skills. Classes have a maximum of 12 students which allows teachers to provide each student with the personal attention they require. Classes will focus on improving students’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, which will help them reach their full potential.
