With this General English course you will join multi-national language classes following a syllabus closely mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, covering key language domains, skills and competencies appropriate to your level of ability. Objectives: This programme of study is intended to enhance the all-round language and communication skills of those who wish to work or study more effectively in an international context. You will improve your language skills and also enhance your inter-cultural communication.

Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

This is the perfect course for students who would like to complement their 20 core lessons with 10 specialised elective lessons. Intensive 30 will allow exploration of an extensive range of elective options as a well as building a solid foundation of language. Our Intensive 30 course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using skills-based and situational learning combined with using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs.

Our General English for Beginners is for adults who have a low level of English (levels 1-2 or A1-A2). Taught in small groups, students learn to use English in everyday situations. Everybody in the group is a beginner so they will practise with people at the same level. This programme allows Non-EU students to progress through at least two levels over an 8-month period and gain a professional, internationally-recognised English qualification. Students on this programme can work 20 hours per week during the 6-month study period, and 40 hours per week during the 2 month holiday.
Award
All students who successfully complete the programme receive the ISI Certificate in English. Non-EU students must complete an official examination at the end
of the programme such as Trinity ISE, FCE, CAE and IELTS.
Entry requirements
Students should be at least 18 years old on the course start date.
Students on Academic Year Academic Year 15 (AY15) programmes are integrated with the General English classes. This creates an international mix of students, each doing courses of different durations. With a full 25-week programme, Academic Year students can expect to progress through at
least two levels during their course before completing their final exit examination. Our morning classes offer a greater international mix of students, while the
discounted afternoon classes tend to have fewer nationalities.

If your goal is to experience one of the most beautiful places on Earth and improve your English speaking skills for work, travel or college, Global Village Hawaii offers you the perfect balance of serious learning and serious fun! The General English Program (GEP) teaches English communicatively. Students learn through interaction in English, and by performing action-oriented tasks. Their improvement is tracked weekly, so each student can progress at their own rate, from beginner to advanced! Just decide how long you would like to study English, as well as how many English lessons you would like to take a week — 16, 20 or 25 lessons, and we will take care of the rest! Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 12:00 OR 13:20 – 17:00. Schedule will we determined by the class levels.

This group course is designed for beginner students learning English for the first time.It is a carefully structured programme of 2-4 weeks, with 20 or 28 lessons per week. There is also an option for 22 lessons per week at our schools in New York and San Francisco.After the course, students can progress onto a longer General English or International Semester Course at A1 (elementary) level. You can also choose to increase your progress during your stay by taking 5 or more additional One-to-one lessons per week

The course develops the confidence and skills you need to express yourself powerfully and is ideal if you wish to enter the workforce or advance your career at home or abroad. General English is the centre of our teaching at British Study Centres and will improve your English communication skills in an engaging, interactive way. Using materials from National Geographic Learning and a coursebook that has been specifically designed for BSC, learn new vocabulary, understand English grammar and get support in the areas you need it the most. *Note: 30 lessons = 22.5 hrs
