What to see during my course in London?

Are you thinking of taking an English course in the UK and still don’t know what to see? Here’s a list of places that won’t leave you indifferent.

London is the ideal city to do so and you have a wide range of monuments to visit. First we will start with the essentials:

Buckingham palace

It is one of the most visited places in the city both for its political and historical interest. It was built in 1703 and is currently used as the residence of the British royal family. One of the main tourist attractions of this place is the changing of the guard.

 

Palace of Westminster

Also known as “TheHouses of Parliament”. It is currently the seat of the British parliament housed in its two chambers (The House of Lores and The House of Commons). It is one of four places that are declared a World Heritage Site in London.

Another attraction we can visit at the Palace of Westminster besides the British Parliament is Big Ben.

Over time it has become one of the most representative symbols of the city. It is the clock tower of the British parliament located on the bank of the Támesis.

It is a fundamental piece of the history of the country. It is a historic castle located on the banks of the Támesis and inside you can see the jewels of the British crown.

 

Tower bridge

The Tower of London Bridge, across the River Támesis,is another of the city’s iconic symbols. Inside you can find an exhibition.

 

Piccadilly Circus

It is a square located in central London as a result of the intersection of several streets. Highlights include its large luminous advertising posters and its famous Eros fountain. Possibly, depending on the day, you can enjoy the performance of some street artist while contemplating the scene. It is also very close to Chinatown.

 

Trafalgar square

It is one of the most famous squares in the city. It was built as a memorial to the british crown’s victory over the French and Spanish armed forces at the Battle of Trafalgar. In addition, inside the square you can find the National Gallery, London’s main art museum.

 

Chinatown

Even if it doesn’t look like it, yes, we’re still in London. Chinatown is the famous Chinatown located in the city. The whole neighborhood is set and decorated in such a way that they will make you feel as if you have teleported to the other side of the world in the blink of an eye.

 

London eye

The eye of London is considered the highest noria in Europe and one of the most visited tourist attractions of the year. It is also one of the best “lookouts” to enjoy a panoramic view of the city since it has an altitude of 135m.

 

History buffs can’t help but visit the British Museum and the Museum of London.

And finally, for the more moviegoer:

Notting hill

It is one of the favorite neighborhoods for tourists of the city. His fame increased after the film’s release starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant and titled with the neighborhood’s own name. It stands out both for its iconic colorful houses and for the locations where the film mentioned above was shot.

 

Harry Potter Studios

Every good lover of the saga knows that most of his sets are located in the city of London such as:

  • Platform 9 3/4 (King’s Cross Station)
  • Diagón Alley (Leadenhall Market)
  • Gringotts Bank (Australian Embassy)
  • Grimmauld Place (Claremont Square)
  • Privet Drive Number 4, Little Whinging (Picket Post Close, Berkshire number 12)

Although visiting all these scenarios sounds very tempting, it’s not the only option. You can take a tour of Warner Studios, where the filming of the saga took place, and see an exhibition with sets, costumes and lots of original objects from the films.
