The exam preparation courses are designed to help you achieve the result needed in your chosen language exam. These official language exams are used as a proof of language proficiency for immigration purposes, university admissions, or for employment. In this course you will learn and develop test-taking strategies and skills.

Based on an integrated skill curriculum, core classes teach students specific strategies to improve their English while electives reinforce the core language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Eight language benchmark levels accommodate student progression from a beginner learner with little English skill to advanced language proficiency.

This is the perfect General English language course for students who would like to complement their 20 core lessons with 10 specialised elective lessons. Intensive 30 will allow exploration of an extensive range of elective options as a well as building a solid foundation of language. Our Intensive 30 course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using skills-based and situational learning combined with using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs. These electives are: confident speaking, pronunciation, exam skills, English for journalism, academic writing and speaking... among many others.

Professional and executive courses will Increase your vocabulary and practise using business English in everyday business situations on the telephone, meetings, presentations or negotiations. Course ContentOur exam preparation program is designed for students looking to improve their IELTS, TEOFL, and TOEIC exam results. We encourage students to start with general English to improve their overall skills and then take the exam prep classes to improve their test results. Ask an expert to see if your exam preparation class is available.English Level RequirementStudents are required to have an ENGL120 level in order to take IELTS120 or TOEFL120 and an ENGL125 level in order to take IELTS125 or TOEFL125.

Designed and created in UMC, our unique techniques and activities used in the classroom are designed to develop both fluency AND accuracy with the ultimate goal of language production. Each lesson is allocated to different skills such as listening strategies, vocabulary development, reading, writing skills, pronunciation, fluency improvement and so on. That maximizes our 4-week terms and allows you to focus on the core skills you need to become proficient. UMC has official start dates every 4 weeks in Toronto.
