English Courses

Within the Intensive English course, students follow the General English Course and have a further 2 sessions per day of 45 minutes each. They are given the opportunity to consolidate their General English studies and have further options to cover new ground. This Long Stay Course has to be a minimum of 8 weeks long.

With this course, students benefit from group classes in the General English Course and individual lessons when the teacher’s undivided attention is focused on their specific needs. Students choose a number of consecutive sessions of study per day. General English (20 L/W) + 10 individual lessons per week.

Our General English courses are designed to improve your English language skills and give you more professional and academic options in the future. As well as taking lessons, you will have plenty of time to sight-see and explore your destination.The course is semi-intensive, and is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced, with classes made up of different levels. The focus is on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and all our schools offer extensive and varied activities programs to help you make the most of your destination.

This course includes the General English classes, and also allows you to personalise your course by taking an additional 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of electives. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. As your English and your confidence improve, you will broaden your horizons and gain a huge advantage in your chosen career or education. This programme is for students who study for 24 weeks or more.

ATA and AYA programmes differ from shorter courses at LSI because students receive a greater level of academic support and management, including two additional weekly sessions with a teacher. An individual study plan is designed for you to suit your level, individual aims and the duration of your course. We continue to check your progress with regular meetings to make sure you achieve your aims.

The General English + One-to-One course is designed to give you a mix of group classes and 1:1 lessons where you can focus on your specific language needs. You study on the core morning programme of the General English course in a mixed-national class at your level for 20 lessons per week. You can then choose to study 10 individual lessons per week with a teacher who will design a study programme based your specific needs.

Studying a General English Language Course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing. General English Full-Time is CRICOS registered and consists of a minimum of 20 hours per week with an additional 5 hours per week of Guided Individual Learning (GIL) We understand that every english student comes to Australia with unique goals, plans and learning needs. The General English Language Course develops your core language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) so that you can speak English confidently and apply practical English skills to communicate in everyday situations. The 25+ Course is designed to make the best use of a short period of study. We aim to improve students' confidence and accuracy when they speak English. The course includes: English language work with a focus on Spoken English and conversation skills. Lessons are designed to develop confidence in using English in both social and professional situations. An adult environment in a building dedicated to our mature students over the age of 25. Social events and excursion possibilities to help students make the most of their short stay in Chester. Students will complete a questionnaire prior to their course and our staff will design the course programme to reflect their needs. With our small classes learning is highly effective and personalised. The one-to-one lessons can focus on: • General English • work-related English • English for Specific Purposes (ESP). We can provide specialised training in areas such as: • tourism management • customer services • marketing • teacher training (including CLIL and methodology) • human resources • finance • journalism

The Intensive English Language Course consists of 25 weekly lessons that are divided into 20 general English lessons + 3 optional workshops + 2 additional free-choice specific English lessons. A characteristic of this school is its personal treatment, since, according to the results of your level exam, you will receive a learning program adapted to your learning objectives.
