Our General English courses are designed to improve your English language skills and give you more professional and academic options in the future. As well as taking lessons, you will have plenty of time to sight-see and explore your destination.The course is semi-intensive, and is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced, with classes made up of different levels. The focus is on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and all our schools offer extensive and varied activities programs to help you make the most of your destination.

ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks. This course runs in the afternoons!!

General English Language courses at Lexis English offer students the flexibility of combining their English language education with a large range of options classes – personalising each student’s course to suit their academic needs. For students wanting to brush up their English skills for travelling, employment or to work towards a placement in one of our academic programs or Certificate or Diploma courses, our General English course is designed to get results. We understand that every english student comes to Australia with unique goals, plans and learning needs. Lexis 360° is our student care program designed to ensure that all Lexis students receive individual support and attention, initiating the most successful study experience possible. General English Part-Time is CRICOS registered and consists of a minimum of 15 hours per week.

The Intensive General English Course is suitable for students who want to maximise. There are also three afternoon lessons a week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (14.00 -16.30) which are focused on improving the students’ speaking skills and ability to communicate through English. In the afternoon lessons, students have the opportunity to improve their communicative proficiency through discussions, topical debates, authentic materials and use of portable and static technology. Course content is partly negotiated and partly based on TED lectures.

Our intensive English programme is our general English course plus three hours of private classes. The intensive English programme is a great way to get the individual attention you need to deal with ingrained errors. Private classes are also a great way to learn and practice the specialised vocabulary and/or skills you need for your job.

Our General English 20 Lesson per Week programme is the perfect English Language course for students who want to combine studying with leisure. The group classes offer you the best value for money and the opportunity to benefit from interaction with other language learners from all over the world. Our maximum class size is 12, which ensures that you will have personal attention from your teacher. This course runs in the afternoons.

International House Newcastle uses communicative methodology so students learn to use English effectively, especially in the vital skills of speaking and listening! Students may start their General English classes on any Monday. These classes are available at all levels - from complete beginner to advanced. All students will receive: a weekly work plan devised by their teachers; a weekly progress update; personal tutorials on a regular basis; course materials, including a study pack. Each lesson (teaching hour) is 55 minutes long, so there are scheduled break periods that take this into account. Our general class size is 12 students maximum (8 students on average). Actual timetable will depend on student's level, course and the number of lessons booked. Lessons will be scheduled between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. The Personal Study Programme is also a key part of the IELTS Academic English, Cambridge Examination Preparation and Business English courses. It is a great way for students to improve on areas they find difficult as well as spend more time on the skills and vocabulary of their choice. Teachers advise and monitor students and the standard ratio is 1 teacher to 8 students

The 25+ Course is designed to make the best use of a short period of study. We aim to improve students' confidence and accuracy when they speak English. The course includes: English language work with a focus on Spoken English and conversation skills. Lessons are designed to develop confidence in using English in both social and professional situations. An adult environment in a building dedicated to our mature students over the age of 25. Social events and excursion possibilities to help students make the most of their short stay in Chester. Students will complete a questionnaire prior to their course and our staff will design the course programme to reflect their needs. With our small classes learning is highly effective and personalised. The one-to-one lessons can focus on: • General English • work-related English • English for Specific Purposes (ESP). We can provide specialised training in areas such as: • tourism management • customer services • marketing • teacher training (including CLIL and methodology) • human resources • finance • journalism
