Intensive CourseThe Intensive Course covers the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and is designed to improve communication in spoken and written English. To build students’ confidence, accuracy and fluency, two class teacher work closely together to provide learner-focused lessons.Classes are held in the mornings and the timetable for our Intensive Course is ideal for students who want free time to join in our social programme, spend time with their friends or work on a part-time basis.

The exam preparation courses are designed to help you achieve the result needed in your chosen language exam. These official language exams are used as a proof of language proficiency for immigration purposes, university admissions, or for employment. In this course you will learn and develop test-taking strategies and skills.

This is a unique intensive Berlitz Business English Course and offers the single, most effective way to learn a language in a short space of time. The business English course starts at 9.00 AM and finishes at 6.00 PM each day and includes a ‘working-lunch’ with your teacher, a 3 way conversational session with two teachers, multimedia- study and a self-study period each day. The Business English Course is from Monday to Friday and incorporates 60 lesson units per week.

The Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses are designed to prepare students for one of the following Cambridge Examinations:First Certificate in English (FCE)Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)The Cambridge Examinations usually take place four times a year in March, June, August and December. Our courses are scheduled to finish the week before the exam date. Students are advised to arrive one week before the course start date to allow time for assessment. We cannot accept a student for any examination course until CES have confirmed the student is at the appropriate level for their chosen examination. Every student is then appointed a tutor to monitor and continually assess their progress with CES.*The First Certificate course is guaranteed to run in CES Dublin. The minimum age is 16 and there is a maximum of 14 students per class. 1 lesson in the UK = 45 minutes1 lesson in Ireland = 55 minutes

The GE Fluency Plus course is one of our Intensive English Courses in Ireland. It combines 20 lessons of General English in the mornings with 6 extra lessons in the afternoons. These afternoon classes are held in small groups, which means that the teacher can give extra attention to each student and focus on the specific areas of English that are of interest to the class. Our intensive English courses are perfect for those looking to make the most of their time in Ireland to study English. You will develop your knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. In addition, this intensive English course will also give you every opportunity to communicate meaningfully in English. You will build competence, confidence and prepare yourself for common real-life situations.

The General English Course GE15 is a 15 hours per week module which runs Monday to Friday in the morning for three hours each day. This leaves you free for the remainder of the day to join the Social Activity Programme offered by Cork English Academy, study in our self access facilities or explore Cork and the surrounding areas.The daily three hour lesson covers all of the English language skills–speaking, listening, reading and writing with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The main focus of the General English 15 hour course is on communication skills in real life settings. Course books, workbooks and supplementary material including authentic materials such as newspaper articles newspapers, DVDs, the Internet, books and other media are utilized by the teacher to meet the language needs of all the individuals in the class.

Description​General English programmes are suitable for everyone and provide a good foundation in the main linguistic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. With a strong focus on communication skills, these courses also provide a solid foundation in the key skills required in the Trinity College London ISE Examinations as well as Cambridge examinations.The method used is task-based, which means that by the end of each level students are expected to be able to complete a certain amount of tasks through English. Course Aim: To prepare students for the Academic IELTS Examination by developing general and academic English language skills and providing a thorough preparation for the IELTS exam. Course Description: IELTS (International Language Testing System) measures your ability to use academic English and is the entry requirement for those students wishing to study in an English-speaking university. The IELTS course is ideal if you are planning to attend university in an English-speaking country or if you are a professional who requires proof of your level of English.  Our courses are suited to both lower (4.5 -5.5) and higher  (6.0-7.5) level IELTS students. The IELTS preparation course aims to develop your general English language and skills knowledge while also providing thorough preparation in the format of the IELTS exam. Classes focus on the format of the exam (both general and academic as required) and on improving test-taking techniques. Through integrated exam practice you will strengthen your ability to respond effectively to exam tasks and maximize your IELTS score. The course covers all of the main areas needed to get a better score on the speaking, reading, writing and listening sections of the IELTS test. 

This teacher training course in Dublin focuses on the fundamental aspects of blended learning and how it is utilised in the modern classroom. In conjunction with this focus, this course has a key element of language development in order to aid the course participants’ ability to deliver effective language lessons. We will look at the role of the teacher in a blended classroom and some of the key tools which can be utilised in the blended context.

Our Methodology and Language Development course is intended for non-native English teachers who wish to refresh their own language skills and examine different teaching methods and approaches. This course provides opportunities for teachers to discuss and share ideas with colleagues from Europe and beyond.
