Unique destination with friendly local people and a truly English experience

Ben Logan, Principal, BLS English

Why would a student choose your school?

BLS English is an unique destination with friendly local people and a truly English experience. Here you can really immerse and learn the culture as well as the language.

In your opinion, what are the main benefits for a student to study abroad?

Feeling the culture which is much more than the language alone and of course making life-long friends.

How do you see the future of language tourism?

There will be a year or so of settling post covid and then the industry will see growth. There will now be a cautious approach by those within the industry from here on. However, the industry is adaptable.

What types of courses do you think will be most in demand in the future?

There will always be demand for short courses coupled with activitis or specific hobbies.

What are the most attractions around the school and in the city in general?

Bury St Edmunds has played a very important part in English history; it was here that in 1214, Barons swore they would force King John to accept the Carter of Liberties, later known as the Magna Carta, one of the most important documents of Medieval England, and was a significant step towards the English democratic and legal systems of today. King Henry VIII’s sister, Mary, is buried in St Mary’s Church and the now ruined Abbey, with it’s magnificent gardens, was a shrine to Saint Edmund, King of the East Angles.

Bury has a striking combination of architecture, from medieval and elegant Georgian squares, a glorious Cathedral with it’s stunning Millenium Tower, magnificent gardens, alongside ultra modern facilities.
