ELTS is an increasingly popular exam taken by students who plan to study at university in the UK, either for a first degree or a Master's. We offer a bespoke course which helps you prepare for the exam.A combination of 15 lessons of specialist IELTS preparation and 5 lessons of Speaking & Listening. For an intensive course, add 5 or 10 extra lessons per week of afternoon options.

In this course you will learn and develop test-taking strategies and skills.

With this General English course you will join multi-national language classes following a syllabus closely mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, covering key language domains, skills and competencies appropriate to your level of ability. This course is also perfect for students who want to focus on  improving academic literacy, or who want a more intensive course than General English.AT CTIC we prepare students for both the Academic Module (AC) or General Training (GT) Module of the test, and each student receives individual support and advice according to their needs. To join this course you need an English level of at least Intermediate or IELTS Band 5 and you can study foras little as 4 weeks or as long as 20 weeks, depending on your goals. Our Academic Manager  can assess your English skills and advise you on an appropriate individualised study plan, and your progress will be carefully monitored. UNIVERSITY & COLLEGE PATHWAYSAfter completion of the EAP pathway program students can enter several Canadian universities. Students do not have to write the TOEFL or IELTS exams.Conditional AdmissionStudents who have completed our University Pathway Program will meet the English language proficiency requirements; however, students must apply separately with all supporting academic documents for entry into our partnered universities. Canadian College of English Language staff will assist with this process. Some of our pathway partners accept students at lower levels–please ask one of our experts for details.English Level RequirementTo be accepted into ENGL140, students must pass ENGL125 or score 60% on our ENGL130 exam. Students with an IELTS of 5.5 are also permitted. In order to take ENGL145, students must successfully complete ENGL140.

Description​General English programmes are suitable for everyone and provide a good foundation in the main linguistic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. With a strong focus on communication skills, these courses also provide a solid foundation in the key skills required in the Trinity College London ISE Examinations as well as Cambridge examinations.The method used is task-based, which means that by the end of each level students are expected to be able to complete a certain amount of tasks through English. There is a central course book and workbook and teachers supplement these using authentic materials such as newspapers, magazines, menus, manuals, brochures and a range of other books.All courses incorporate the use of Digital Interactive Whiteboards, the Internet and audio-visual technology. AwardISI Certificate in English. Our Methodology and Language Development course is intended for non-native English teachers who wish to refresh their own language skills and examine different teaching methods and approaches. This course provides opportunities for teachers to discuss and share ideas with colleagues from Europe and beyond.

If you want a personal and interactive approach you should also consider the LSI Mini group course. Mini group courses include general grammar and skills. The focus on negotiations, presentations and meetings is relevant in business and non-business situations.
