The Intensive Course is our most popular choice. It combines 20 general English lessons (15 hours) with 8 Special Interest Group (SIG) lessons per week (6 hours).In the general English lessons, students will focus on improving their English language skills across the 4 key skill areas at a consistent rate — reading, writing, listening and speaking.In the Special Interest Group lessons, students can choose from a number of different options based on their own interests and language learning goals. Example options include — Exam Preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge); Business English; Group Discussion; Art and Design; Speech and Pronunciation; Academic Writing Skills; etc.The Intensive Course is available year-round with weekly start dates, and is suitable for students of all English levels.

The Standard General English Course takes place all year round. Lessons are held every morning, from Monday to Friday (09.30 – 13.00). Students will work on improving the skills involved with speaking, listening, reading and writing, so that they can improve their comprehension and communicate more freely. They will work on their linguistic knowledge, increasing their vocabulary and deepening their understanding of the grammar and structure of the language. Courses at CES are communicative and task-based, using the most up to date technology and authentic materials. Students are then free in the afternoons to join our exciting social programme, use the self-access facilities, or to explore the rich history and culture of Ireland and the UK.

Our English Academic Year courses are nine month English courses that aim to take you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Year course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation. Immerse yourself in the English language, and spend a year studying and getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially designed study materials.

Our General English courses are designed to improve your English language skills and give you more professional and academic options in the future. As well as taking lessons, you will have plenty of time to sight-see and explore your destination. The course is semi-intensive, and is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced, with classes made up of different levels. The focus is on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and all our schools offer extensive and varied activities programs to help you make the most of your destination.

The LSI Intensive General English language 30 course concentrates on all the areas that you need to achieve much greater fluency in a short period of time. This course is suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well-rounded insight into the language and country. Students on the LSI Intensive 30 course study the same lessons as described for General 20 in the morning. During the afternoon there is a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests. For courses longer than 24 weeks, please refer to the International School Year courses. 30 Lessons per week; 15 students maximum; 1 lesson: 50 minutes; Hours per week: 25 hours; Age 16+.

Our International Academic Year Programme is designed for students who want to study for 24 weeks or more. Our standard course lengths are 24, 34 or 44 weeks; however you are able to study for longer if you wish. There are lots of benefits including the freedom to move from one course to another without any additional cost. For example, you could start with a General English programme to improve your overall level and then transfer to a Cambridge Examination Preparation course or an IELTS Preparation programme, depending on your individual needs.

With this programme, you will develop fluency, accuracy and appropriate uses of English across all four language skills. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. Taking the time to seriously focus on your English will open up unlimited opportunities for you. This programme is for students who study for 24 weeks or more.

The General English Course at ELC Eastbourne is designed to give you the confidence to communicate effectively in real-life situations. The course provides effective English language training for people who need English for work, further study,travel/tourism or for your own pleasure. In addition, it can help provide preparation for a number of exams including IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, KET and PET. There is a balanced programme, focusing on the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, whilst covering essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms and colloquial language.

The Combination Course takes place all year round, from Monday to Friday. Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course. There are two afternoons a week of one-to-one lessons, designed to meet the individual requirements of each student. Prior to the first one-to-one session, students complete a Needs Analysis which helps the teacher to plan the one-to-one lessons according to the student’s specific needs. Teachers then work closely with the student to ensure these needs are being met. All students receive a final report detailing their progress and outlining future areas for attention. The minimum age is 16 and there is a maximum of 14 students per class. A combination course is 26.6lessons (20 hours) per week. 15 hours General English in the mornings and 5 hours one-to-one lessons in the afternoons in the UK.
