Our General English courses are designed to improve your English language skills and give you more professional and academic options in the future. As well as taking lessons, you will have plenty of time to sight-see and explore your destination. The course is semi-intensive and available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced, with classes made up of different levels. The focus is on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and all our schools offer extensive and varied activities programs to help you make the most of your destination.

This General English language course has 20 Lessons per week (4 lessons per day); 1 lesson: 50 minutes; Hours per week: 16 hours 40 minutes; 15 students max. per class: Age 16+. During the lessons you rapidly improve your communication skills in a variety of everyday situations. In 2 lessons each day you will cover the following areas: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation. In a further 2 lessons you concentrate on: speaking, listening, reading, writing. You use a text book and a wide variety of materials and exercises including roleplays, authentic materials, newspapers and magazines. For courses longer than 24 weeks, please refer to the International School Year courses.

This course gives you the opportunity of living and learning more about the culture and social life of both England and Ireland. Our special long term rates are only available to CES agents. Bookings must be a minimum of 24 weeks to avail of these rates. Students have the opportunity to really further their English language, by learning over a greater length of time. If long term students have the appropriate level, they are welcome to move to our IELTS/Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses or General English with Business English! You can divide your stay as you wish and you can start your course in either England or Ireland - we leave the choice to you. We do recommend that all students who require a visa start their Multi-Destination course in the UK.

Our Conversation and Pronunciation English programmes focus on developing speaking skills, improving pronunciation and building conversational skills and strategies. This will help you express yourself confidently and effectively in spoken interaction, both socially and in more formal settings and global situations.

Our Semi-Intensive English course is a semi-intensive programme that allows you to balance classroom tuition with structured study and free time activities. You will improve your English language ability at a speed you feel comfortable with, while having time to enjoy your destination. This course is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced and you will be placed in a class which is suitable for your level. The course focuses on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. You’ll also learn vocabulary and grammar, and how to speak in formal and informal discussions and strategies.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

This course includes the General English classes, and also allows you to personalise your course by taking an additional 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of electives. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. As your English and your confidence improve, you will broaden your horizons and gain a huge advantage in your chosen career or education. This programme is for students who study for 24 weeks or more.

The Intensive Course is our most popular choice. It combines 20 general English lessons (15 hours) with 8 Special Interest Group (SIG) lessons per week (6 hours).In the general English lessons, students will focus on improving their English language skills across the 4 key skill areas at a consistent rate — reading, writing, listening and speaking.In the Special Interest Group lessons, students can choose from a number of different options based on their own interests and language learning goals. Example options include — Exam Preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge); Business English; Group Discussion; Art and Design; Speech and Pronunciation; Academic Writing Skills; etc.The Intensive Course is available year-round with weekly start dates, and is suitable for students of all English levels.
