The Standard General English Course takes place all year round. Lessons are held every morning, from Monday to Friday (09.30 – 13.00 in the UK). Students will work on improving the skills involved with speaking, listening, reading and writing, so that they can improve their comprehension and communicate more freely. They will work on their linguistic knowledge, increasing their vocabulary and deepening their understanding of the grammar and structure of the language. Courses at CES are communicative and task-based, using the most up to date technology and authentic materials. Students are then free in the afternoons to join our exciting social programme, use the self-access facilities, or to explore the rich history and culture of Ireland and the UK.

Our General English language courses help students improve all their skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and learn the grammar, vocabulary and cultural knowledge necessary for living in the UK and using English in an international context. We focus on practical, effective and natural communication and you will get at least five pieces of new language in each 45-minute class.

Our Semi-Intensive English course is a semi-intensive programme that allows you to balance classroom tuition with structured study and free time activities. You will improve your English language ability at a speed you feel comfortable with, while having time to enjoy your destination.This course is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced and you will be placed in a class which is suitable for your level. The course focuses on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. You’ll also learn vocabulary and grammar, and how to speak in formal and informal discussions and strategies.

The Intensive General English Course is suitable for students who want to maximise on work carried out in the Standard Course. This course takes place all year round.Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course from Monday to Friday (09.30 -13.00 in the UK). There are also three afternoon lessons a week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (14.00 -16.30 in the UK or 14.00-16.00 in Ireland) which are focused on improving the students’ speaking skills and ability to communicate through English. In the afternoon lessons, students have the opportunity to improve their communicative proficiency through discussions, topical debates, authentic materials and use of portable and static technology. Course content is partly negotiated and partly based on TED lectures.

St Giles Brighton offers the International Semester language Course to students wishing to experience British life and study General English for 6 months or longer. Additional modules also available at St Giles Brighton are: Cambridge English, IELTS or TOEFL exam preparation, English for Business, English for Tourism and English for University Studies.

This General English language course combines both General English and a focus on Conversation and Pronunciation skills. Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. Our English for Conversation and Pronunciation courses are designed for students who want to express themselves more fluently and clearly in spoken English.

Our five month English Academic Semester course aims to get you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Semester course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation. Immerse yourself in the English language and spend a semester studying, getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially produced study materials. Each week you will receive: − 20 English lessons (15 hours) − 8 Specific Skills lessons (6 hours) − 7 Sessions of K+ (5.25 hours) ⦿ Total: 21 hours per week + 5.25 hours of K+

The standard General English dynamic course which gives our students just the boost they need to become more confident in their language skills. Our courses place a lot of emphasis on accuracy and fluency, and our teachers use discussions, debates, games, role plays, as well as authentic learning materials appealing to groups. Classes also revise and build on previously learnt grammar and develop students' vocabulary.

The Combination English Course takes place all year round, from Monday to Friday (09.30-13.00 in the UK). Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course. There are two afternoons a week of one-to-one lessons, designed to meet the individual requirements of each student. Prior to the first one-to-one session, students complete a Needs Analysis which helps the teacher to plan the one-to-one lessons according to the student’s specific needs. Teachers then work closely with the student to ensure these needs are being met. All students receive a final report detailing their progress and outlining future areas for attention.
