English Courses

Our foundation program offers a comprehensive communicative approach to learning English. The objective is to rapidly improve your English fluency through the development of the four essential language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. The mornings (periods 1 to 4) focus on developing core English skills in language structure and oral communication.

Our General English courses are ideal if you use English for everyday purposes.  The semi-intensive course will teach you English vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation together with the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. In the afternoons you will take skill-based elective classes to allow you to focus on the English skills you most want to improve.

St Giles Vancouver offers the International Semester Course to students wishing to experience Canadian life and study General English for 6 months or longer. Additional modules also available at St Giles Vancouver are: Cambridge English, IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC exam preparation, and English for Business.

This course is only available to students studying in the USA or Canada. This course offers General English plus 4 lessons per week of electives. With this programme, you will develop fluency, accuracy and appropriate uses of English across all four language skills. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. Taking the time to seriously focus on your English will open up unlimited opportunities for you. This programme is for students who study for 24 weeks or more.

Our ESL classes are based on a unique UMC Model that maximizes student-teacher interaction and communicative learning when studying English. Designed and created in UMC, our unique techniques and activities used in the classroom are designed to develop both fluency AND accuracy with the ultimate goal of language production. Each lesson is allocated to different skills such as listening strategies, vocabulary development, reading, writing skills, pronunciation, fluency improvement and so on. That maximizes our 4-week terms and allows you to focus on the core skills you need to become proficient. UMC has official start dates every 4 weeks in Toronto.

This course includes the General English classes, and also allows you to personalise your course by taking an additional 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of electives. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. As your English and your confidence improve, you will broaden your horizons and gain a huge advantage in your chosen career or education. This programme is for students who study for 24 weeks or more.

ATA and AYA programmes differ from shorter courses at LSI because students receive a greater level of academic support and management, including two additional weekly sessions with a teacher. An individual study plan is designed for you to suit your level, individual aims and the duration of your course. The LSI Intensive 30 course concentrates on all the areas that you need to achieve a much greater fluency in a short period of time. This course is suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well rounded insight into the language and country. Students on the LSI Intensive 30 course study the same lessons as described for General 20 in the morning. During the afternoon there are a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests.

Our General English courses are designed to help students communicate successfully and confidently in real-life situations. Classes have a maximum of twelve students, to ensure that every student receives personal attention from their teacher. Although classes have a focus on speaking and listening, students have the chance to practise all four skills, helping them reach their full potential. Students can choose to study for anything from 1 to 24 weeks.

With this English Language Course from OHC Dublin, you will join multi-national language classes following a syllabus closely mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, covering key language domains, skills, and competencies appropriate to your level of ability. The objectives for this English Language course are intended to enhance the all-round language and communication skills of those who wish to work or study more effectively in an international context. This course runs in the morning and is long-term intended.
