Our Intensive English program offers a fast, enjoyable and effective way to improve your English language skills, whatever your current language level. Our General English language courses aim to develop students' ability to communicate effectively in English. All aspects of language are covered with an emphasis on speaking and listening. These carefully structured and flexible courses give students an opportunity to select from a range of afternoon classes. This enhances and personalises the students' learning.

With this General English language course you'll improve your all-round English ability and increase confidence in your day-to-day use of the language. Our General English courses are designed to meet the needs of learners in a variety of English-language settings and aim to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world. In classes with a maximum of just 10 students, you will follow an integrated skills programme which covers the areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

The standard General English dynamic course which gives our students just the boost they need to become more confident in their language skills. Our courses place a lot of emphasis on accuracy and fluency, and our teachers use discussions, debates, games, role plays, as well as authentic learning materials appealing to groups. Classes also revise and build on previously learnt grammar and develop students' vocabulary.

The Combination Course takes place all year round, from Monday to Friday (09.30-13.00 in the UK). Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course. There are two afternoons a week of one-to-one lessons, designed to meet the individual requirements of each student. Prior to the first one-to-one session, students complete a Needs Analysis which helps the teacher to plan the one-to-one lessons according to the student’s specific needs. Teachers then work closely with the student to ensure these needs are being met. All students receive a final report detailing their progress and outlining future areas for attention.

The Standard General English Course takes place all year round. Lessons are held every morning, from Monday to Friday (09.30 – 13.00). Students will work on improving the skills involved with speaking, listening, reading and writing, so that they can improve their comprehension and communicate more freely. They will work on their linguistic knowledge, increasing their vocabulary and deepening their understanding of the grammar and structure of the language. Courses at CES are communicative and task-based, using the most up to date technology and authentic materials. Students are then free in the afternoons to join our exciting social programme, use the self-access facilities, or to explore the rich history and culture of Ireland and the UK.

Studying a General English language course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. The lessons cover the most important aspects of learning English, including grammar and pronunciation, which will help you improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. By the end of the course students should be able to communicate in English more confidently in different situations outside the classroom. The timetable below is a sample. Our Semi-Intensive English course is a semi-intensive programme that allows you to balance classroom tuition with structured study and free time activities. You will improve your English language ability at a speed you feel comfortable with, while having time to enjoy your destination. This course is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced and you will be placed in a class which is suitable for your level. The course focuses on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. You’ll also learn vocabulary and grammar, and how to speak in formal and informal discussions and strategies.

The 25+ Course is designed to make the best use of a short period of study. We aim to improve students' confidence and accuracy when they speak English. The course includes: English language work with a focus on Spoken English and conversation skills. Lessons are designed to develop confidence in using English in both social and professional situations. An adult environment in a building dedicated to our mature students over the age of 25. Social events and excursion possibilities to help students make the most of their short stay in Chester. Students will complete a questionnaire prior to their course and our staff will design the course programme to reflect their needs. With our small classes learning is highly effective and personalised. The one-to-one lessons can focus on: • General English • work-related English • English for Specific Purposes (ESP). We can provide specialised training in areas such as: • tourism management • customer services • marketing • teacher training (including CLIL and methodology) • human resources • finance • journalism

Our General English language courses are our most popular kind of course. They will improve your overall English language ability. We focus on all the key areas, such as speaking, reading, writing and listening. After you finish a course, you will be given a report and certificate. KAE is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK, so you can be sure of the quality of our courses. This semi-intensive General English language course combines accuracy with fluency. In the mornings, students will increase their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. In the afternoons, there are classes focused on improving communication skills. This style of teaching allows students learn the rules of English and then put them into practice straight away.
