Our General English language courses are our most popular kind of course. They will improve your overall English language ability. We focus on all the key areas, such as speaking, reading, writing and listening. After you finish a course, you will be given a report and certificate. KAE is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK, so you can be sure of the quality of our courses. Our intensive course is great for those that need to improve quickly. Students will learn how to use English clearly and accurately within a short period. This course will also educate students on how to use English naturally in everyday situations. Classes focus on accuracy, fluency and pronunciation. In the mornings we focus on grammar and English language use. In the afternoons, we focus on speaking, listening, reading, fluency and pronunciation. Students on this course should expect to make big improvements in their English skills.

With this programme, you will develop fluency, accuracy and appropriate uses of English across all four language skills. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. Taking the time to seriously focus on your English will open up unlimited opportunities for you. This course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.

The Diploma of Intensive English course allows you to immerse yourself in English for up to 48 weeks and you’ll learn, live and think like a native English speaker. You will have a personalised study plan, regular progress tutorials, and regular language level tests. The course combines 20 general English lessons (15 hours) with 8 Special Interest Group (SIG) lessons per week (6 hours). In the general English lessons, students will focus on improving their English language skills across the 4 key skill areas at a consistent rate — reading, writing, listening and speaking. Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing. Course content: The morning and afternoon sessions will focus on helping you develop your general English language skills through a variety of useful and engaging materials and activities. Every week will include: Grammar and vocabulary carefully selected by your trainer based on your needs and goals. You will practise these throughout the week. A focus on speaking, with the majority of your classes designed to maximise your speaking time. Extended fluency activities including discussions, role-plays and presentations. These will give you the opportunity to develop your speaking further and bring together the grammar, vocabulary and skills you have worked on during the week. Listening and reading activities from a range of sources. A focus on writing skills, for example formal and informal emails. Pronunciation. This may be in the form of a dedicated lesson and/or connected to the grammar, vocabulary or skills you are studying. Practical communication strategies, for example agreeing and disagreeing politely, interrupting, and showing sympathy. A focus on social and intercultural English. Correction and productive feedback on your speaking and writing.

The Intensive General English Course is suitable for students who want to maximise on work carried out in the Standard Course. This course takes place all year round. Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course from Monday to Friday (09.30 -13.00). There are also three afternoon lessons a week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (14.00 -16.30 in the UK) which are focused on improving the students’ speaking skills and ability to communicate through English. In the afternoon lessons, students have the opportunity to improve their communicative proficiency through discussions, topical debates, authentic materials and use of portable and static technology. Course content is partly negotiated and partly based on TED lectures.

This course gives you the opportunity of living and learning more about the culture and social life of both England and Ireland. Our special long term rates are only available to CES agents. Bookings must be a minimum of 24 weeks to avail of these rates. Students have the opportunity to really further their English language, by learning over a greater length of time. If long term students have the appropriate level, they are welcome to move to our IELTS/Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses or General English with Business English! You can divide your stay as you wish and you can start your course in either England or Ireland - we leave the choice to you. We do recommend that all students who require a visa start their Multi-Destination course in the UK.
