Apart from the 20 L/W of General English that students have, with this option the choice of an elective is available. There are electives suitable for each level, some of the options are: pronunciation, grammar, speaking, English for business, critical response, English for public speaking, English for social media...

The afternoon General English language course is a less grammar intensive, diverse range of classes allowing specialisation in a variety of elective English subjects. Through the use of elective lessons, our afternoon course allows students to focus their language learning on specific skills they'd like to improve.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Our preparation course will ensure you have all the skills necessary to take the test and achieve your desired score.The IELTS Preparation course teaches strategies for success in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam and covers the four major sections in-depth: Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing.Our teachers specialize in training students for test-taking and help them develop confidence and techniques that contribute to their success. Students may choose to prepare for the IELTS exam from Level 10 and up.ILAC accepts students every Monday, however, students are strongly encouraged to begin on Main Start Dates. This course teaches the sector specific language and communication skills for use in a career in the travel, hospitality and tourism industries. The course includes a wide range of commuincative activities using interegrated language skills. You will develop language awareness through an integrated grammar and skills syllabus.Topics include:•Hotel branding and management•Advertising and website media design•Resort Representation•Event Management/Attractions•E-travel•Airport arrivals, factilities and security procedures•Risk and Risk Prevention•Quality Management/Responding to complaints Students will perform many authentic work related tasks and build confidence through realistic case studies that reflect issues in the tourism industry today.

UNIVERSITY & COLLEGE PATHWAYSAfter completion of the EAP pathway program students can enter several Canadian universities. Students do not have to write the TOEFL or IELTS exams.Conditional AdmissionStudents who have completed our University Pathway Program will meet the English language proficiency requirements; however, students must apply separately with all supporting academic documents for entry into our partnered universities. Canadian College of English Language staff will assist with this process. Some of our pathway partners accept students at lower levels–please ask one of our experts for details.English Level RequirementTo be accepted into ENGL140, students must pass ENGL125 or score 60% on our ENGL130 exam. Students with an IELTS of 5.5 are also permitted. In order to take ENGL145, students must successfully complete ENGL140.
