Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Our General English and OET course is a 21 hour per week, intensive full time course. It is a combination of General English and OET Exam Preparation. General English will aim to give you the confidence in communicating in an English speaking environment and you’ll focus on the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing whilst covering essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, phrases, and formal and informal language. Note: Timetable depends on your level of English and the availability. Cambridge English offer a wide range of exams which can help you achieve your goals and increase your opportunities for work, study, and life.Our Cambridge Exam Preparation courses are full time at 15 hours per week. You will be guided through a variety of strategies to help you realise your potential in your chosen Cambridge exam. You will focus on all parts of the exam - reading, writing, listening, speaking, and use of English – as well as exam techniques and academic style. LILA*'s Cambridge Exam Preparation courses are intended to develop the necessary language skills required to pass the exam. As well as the core course material you may also have the opportunity for authentic exam practise with previous Cambridge exam papers.Note: Timetable depends on your level of English and the availability. Cambridge CELTA is an internationally recognised, externally accredited EFL qualification and your first reliable step to teaching anywhere in the world. This course provides fluent speakers of English with high quality training in teaching English as a foreign language and is taken by over 10,000 candidates each year. CELTA is suitable for people who are interested in teaching English abroad or in the UK with little or no teaching experience as well as teachers who are already in the profession but who have no formal or practical teaching qualification. The course includes tutorial support, supervised lesson planning, peer observation, feedback sessions, submission of a portfolio of work and much more.

Our English Teaching Methodology course is designed for non-native teachers of English who want to improve or refresh their skills. The course covers a broad range of EFL topics and the most recent developments in English language teaching. Topics typically include: Methods and Approaches Motivation Functions and Meaning Materials Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening Teaching Roles Grammar Lexis Checking Understanding Phonology Computers in EFL Teaching Beginners Learner Strategies Personal Development. English Teaching Methodology is available to Groups only. A teaching qualification is required to enrol on this course.

The exam preparation courses are design to help you achieve the result needed in your chosen language exam. These official language exams are used as a proof of language proficiency for immigration purposes, university admissions, or for employment. In this course you will learn and develop test-taking strategies and skills.

This supplementary course aims to give you a strong grasp of general English, while also teaching you for the IELTS exam. We also offer an Intensive Preparation course that gives you a stronger focus on the exam.

You will focus on academic reading and writing, whilst also honing your speaking and listening skills. The class covers all modules of the IELTS exam and students will also get the chance to see past exam papers.
