Our Intensive Academic Year courses are 9 month English courses that will improve your English fluency to the highest level, with more lessons than our general English Academic Year course. As well as learning important general English, you can choose to study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation. St Giles Brighton offers the International Semester language Course to students wishing to experience British life and study General English for 6 months or longer. Additional modules also available at St Giles Brighton are: Cambridge English, IELTS or TOEFL exam preparation, English for Business, English for Tourism and English for University Studies.

The Study Year Programme is designed to provide a comprehensive language programme which will help you prepare for your future and achieve internationally recognised exam qualifications. This programme allows you to study on a wide variety of English in Chester courses, including General English and Exam courses.

The 25+ Course is designed to make the best use of a short period of study. We aim to improve students' confidence and accuracy when they speak English. The course includes: English language work with a focus on Spoken English and conversation skills. Lessons are designed to develop confidence in using English in both social and professional situations. An adult environment in a building dedicated to our mature students over the age of 25. Social events and excursion possibilities to help students make the most of their short stay in Chester. Students will complete a questionnaire prior to their course and our staff will design the course programme to reflect their needs. There is a balanced programme, focusing on the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, whilst covering essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms and colloquial language.

The Standard General English Course takes place all year round. Lessons are held every morning, from Monday to Friday (09.30 – 13.00). Students will work on improving the skills involved with speaking, listening, reading and writing, so that they can improve their comprehension and communicate more freely. They will work on their linguistic knowledge, increasing their vocabulary and deepening their understanding of the grammar and structure of the language. Courses at CES are communicative and task-based, using the most up to date technology and authentic materials. Students are then free in the afternoons to join our exciting social programme, use the self-access facilities, or to explore the rich history and culture of Ireland and the UK.
