Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Our English language Academic Semester courses in Kaplan Vancouver are five-month English courses that aim to take you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. This course has 20 hours of classes per week. Immerse yourself in the English language, and spend a year studying and getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially designed study materials.

Our General English language courses are designed to improve your English language skills and give you more professional and academic options in the future. As well as taking lessons, you will have plenty of time to sight-see and explore your destination. The course is semi-intensive, and is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced, with classes made up of different levels. This course has 15 lessons per week. The focus is on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and all our schools offer extensive and varied activities programs to help you make the most of your destination.

Our standard ESL program has ten levels that range from beginner to intermediate to advanced classes. Students will take classes that focus on different English language skills such as reading, listening, grammar and communication. As students improve theirs level they can take other language skills such as pronunciation, conversation or writing. 

This course develops all aspects of language competence in a personalised programme coordinated by the core teacher. Our General English Morning 20 course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using skills-based and situational learning combined with one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs. The course consists of the 20 morning classes plus 20 afternoon specialised elective lessons per week, allowing students to maximise their study day and develop a wide variety of skills. Our General English Super Intensive course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs. These electives are: academic speaking and writing, exam skills, confident speaking, English for journalism... among many others.

ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks.
