This Communication Englisg course is designed to help you communicate effectively and with ease in a wide range of situations from social settings to debates and presentations. FOC combines the morning oral communication periods (Periods 2, 3 and 4) with select afternoon workshops designed especially for FOC students, such as Power Speaking and Debating. You can change your workshop topic weekly allowing you to better customize your studies to your individual needs. In addition to class work, this course includes one free Chat Buddy session (3 to 5 hours per week) per month. Your Canadian Chat Buddy will help you to practice your conversational skills outside of the classroom and become familiar with Canadian life through a variety of social activities.

Our ESL classes are based on a unique UMC Model that maximizes student-teacher interaction and communicative learning when studying English. Designed and created in UMC, our unique techniques and activities used in the classroom are designed to develop both fluency AND accuracy with the ultimate goal of language production. Each lesson is allocated to different skills such as listening strategies, vocabulary development, reading, writing skills, pronunciation, fluency improvement and so on. That maximizes our 4-week terms and allows you to focus on the core skills you need to become proficient. UMC has official start dates every 4 weeks in Toronto.

This is the perfect General English language course for students who would like to complement their 20 core lessons with 10 specialised elective lessons. Intensive 30 will allow exploration of an extensive range of elective options as a well as building a solid foundation of language. Our Intensive 30 course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using skills-based and situational learning combined with using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs. These electives are: confident speaking, pronunciation, exam skills, English for journalism, academic writing and speaking... among many others.

The afternoon General English course is a less grammar intensive, diverse range of classes allowing specialisation in a variety of elective English subjects. Through the use of elective lessons, our afternoon course allows students to focus their language learning on specific skills they'd like to improve. These include English for journalism, exam skills, academic speaking and writing, confident speaking... among many others.

The Power General English language course at ILAC Toronto will help students develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills as well as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and idioms. This course includes 8 more lessons than a regular course from ILAC.

The semi-intensive course includes the full core class with Language Development and English Skills, with the addition of three electives per week. This will allow exploration of an extensive range of elective options as well as building on a solid foundation of the language. Our General English Semi-Intensive course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs.

General Language English classes are an opportunity for you to improve not only your speaking skills, but also to practise reading, writing, and listening. Each lesson consists of a mix of grammar, vocabulary, and communicative activities to keep the class lively and interesting. This intensive language course combines the General English course plus our range of modules, soyou get to personalise your course totally to fit your needs.

ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
