The programme provides a language enrichment component designed to improve the participants’ knowledge and use of English, including vocabulary, grammatical knowledge, functional knowledge and pronunciation. There is a focus on current methodologies and practical teaching skills, with material taken from the Cambridge TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) preparation course. Students have the option to take the TKT exam at the end of the course in order to obtain an official Cambridge certificate.

This teacher training course in Dublin focuses on the fundamental aspects of blended learning and how it is utilised in the modern classroom. In conjunction with this focus, this course has a key element of language development in order to aid the course participants’ ability to deliver effective language lessons. We will look at the role of the teacher in a blended classroom and some of the key tools which can be utilised in the blended context.

This course is intended for non-native teachers of other subjects who wish to develop their own English language skills. It is specifically aimed at teachers of other subjects, who have to teach their subjects through English.

COURSE CONTENTThe course is a mixture of practice & theory120 contact hours6 hours of assessed teaching practice for each trainee6 hours of observation of experienced teachersA minimum of 80 additional learning hours for reading, research, assignment writing and lesson preparationCourse content and assessment is the same, whether the course is taken online or face-to-faceAll Stafford House CELTA courses cover the following:Input sessions You will attend input sessions on methodology and practice given by our tutors to the whole group of trainees. These will equip you with theoretical and practical knowledge and ideas to inform and plan your lessons. (Input will be online for the Online CELTA.)Teaching practice (TP) You will teach for a total of six hours, working with classes at two or three levels of ability.
