CES is delighted to announce for 2018 new university pathway pre-sessional English language programme in cooperation with NCUK. Students will study at CES for 3, 6 or 9 months to raise their IELTS score to the level required to join our partner delivering the Northern Consortium Foundation Programme (NCUK).This will provide guaranteed access to OVER 300 University courses in universities in the UK and Ireland (subject to achieving correct IELTS and foundation results). The programme will provide expert preparation for the IELTS exam as well as giving students the academic study skills required to succeed in the further and higher education environment.

Our most popular General English language course consists of 20 lessons of General English Fluency group classes per week. The classes focus on improving your accuracy, fluency, and confidence in the English language. With a focus on real-life grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation you will be better able to communicate successfully with people from all over the world. This course runs in the afternoon.

The GE Fluency Intensive 32 is one of our most intensive general English courses. It allows students to combine 20 lessons of general English in the mornings with 12 lessons of individual training in the afternoons. Before beginning their intensive English language course, students will complete a needs analysis and interview with our Academic Manager to design their individual afternoon program.

We believe that all learners choose to study English for a purpose and our courses are designed with a sense of that purpose; personal, social, professional and academic. We also emphasise the importance of learner autonomy, and our courses invite the learner to take responsibility for their progress, help them to develop their learning skills and the ability to develop themselves.Our adult course is divided into three stages according to English language level. At each stage the exit criteria are those specified in the relevant Integrated Skills Exam (ISE) for ILEP purposes by Trinity College London.All of our courses are project-based which means the students will learn English while working together and making use of technology as a basic tool of communication and a support for language learning. Our course has 15 hours of project-based tuition per week (morning or afternoon).STAGE 1: LIFE SKILLS THROUGH ENGLISH – LEVELS A2 TO B1The initial stage of our course is designed to help people to make a life in Dublin through English and deal successfully with all the situations that will arise at work, at home and socially. It aims to help develop communication skills that consider the cultural as well as the linguistic challenges to successful communication in English.STAGE 2: PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION – LEVELS B1 TO B2The second stage is designed for professionals who are interested in developing their spoken and written communication skills in an international and technology enhanced environment. The aim is to equip participants to communicate effectively in English in order to be able to progress professionally. Dublin is a hub for international technology companies who employ multinational teams to service European markets in the first language. The language of coordination and management in these companies is always English. however, and in order to progress in your career you need to be able to present yourself well and communicate effectively in that language. Effective communication is about more than just the language, it is about engagement with the culture of the company in an appropriate way.STAGE 3: FOUNDATION FOR STUDY THROUGH ENGLISH – LEVELS B2 TO C1The third stage is designed to equip people to make a success of studying in an English speaking country. The aim is to equip participants to communicate effectively in English in order to be able to progress academically. Effective communication is about more than just the language, it is about engaging with the educational culture in an appropriate way. It aims to help develop communication skills that consider the cultural as well as the linguistic challenges to successful studying in an English-speaking institution.

Our long-term English language Academic Year Programmes (AYP) offer you a substantial level of flexibility. You can combine different modules and courses to suit your individual requirements. Long-term program students usually begin in our Intensive English Language Course to gain a firm understanding of general English skills. This course offers 20 hours of study per week.

The Academic Year Programme includes 6 months (25 weeks) of studying and 2 months (10 weeks) of holidays, and allows non-EU students to apply for an 8-month (35 weeks) student visa in Ireland.Our teaching is based on a communicative and task-based approach, which means students always focus on effective real-life communication and ways of practising and achieving it. Each day the class is divided into two sessions:>> Session A: 9am to 10.40am>> Session B: 11.10am to 12.50pmSessions A and B are taught by different teachers to give you exposure to a variety of accents and teaching styles. In general, Session A focuses on developing your Grammar, Vocabulary and Functional Language. Session B focuses on interactive communication with an emphasis on Speaking Skills and Pronunciation.

Description​General English programmes are suitable for everyone and provide a good foundation in the main linguistic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. With a strong focus on communication skills, these courses also provide a solid foundation in the key skills required in the Trinity College London ISE Examinations as well as Cambridge examinations.The method used is task-based, which means that by the end of each level students are expected to be able to complete a certain amount of tasks through English. There is a central course book and workbook and teachers supplement these using authentic materials such as newspapers, magazines, menus, manuals, brochures and a range of other books.All courses incorporate the use of Digital Interactive Whiteboards, the Internet and audio-visual technology. AwardISI Certificate in English. This programme allows Non-EU students to progress through at least two levels over an 8-month period and gain a professional, internationally-recognised English qualification. Students on this programme can work 20 hours per week during the 6-month study period, and 40 hours per week during the 2 month holiday.
Award
All students who successfully complete the programme receive the ISI Certificate in English. Non-EU students must complete an official examination at the end
of the programme such as Trinity ISE, FCE, CAE and IELTS.

Students should be at least 18 years old on the course start date.
Students on Academic Year Academic Year 15 (AY15) programmes are integrated with the General English classes. This creates an international mix of students, each doing courses of different durations. With a full 25-week programme, Academic Year students can expect to progress through at
least two levels during their course before completing their final exit examination. Our morning classes offer a greater international mix of students, while the
discounted afternoon classes tend to have fewer nationalities.
