English Courses in Canada

The General English Courses are designed for learners of all levels and have an emphasis on speaking, communication and a high level of learner participation. The goal is to improve your accuracy and fluency as you move up the levels from beginner to advanced plus. These courses will give you the skills you need to communicate effectively in English, and will provide a strong foundation of grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and spoken English.

This course is only available to students studying in the USA or Canada. With this English language course, you get 24 lessons (18 hours) per week of General English including four lessons per week in your choice of Special Focus study.

Our General English courses are designed to help students communicate successfully and confidently in real-life situations. Classes have a maximum of twelve students, to ensure that every student receives personal attention from their teacher. Although classes have a focus on speaking and listening, students have the chance to practise all four skills, helping them reach their full potential. Students can choose to study for anything from 1 to 24 weeks.

Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The Speaking Clinic has been created for students that have mastered the basics of grammar and vocabulary but are struggling to make the leap to oral fluency in English. Differences in pitch and rhythm and difficulties with pronunciation are often barriers to being able to explain your ideas and opinions in English. This course has been specifically designed to perfect your spoken English by concentrating on overcoming whatever is standing in the way of your being able to communicate clearly and confidently.Regular practice with role play and pronunciation error correction, and the use of recording devices to check your progress will help you in your goal to sound like a native speaker of English.You may choose to add an elective course to create an Intensive Program.

CLLC’s Accelerated Program gives students an opportunity to complete their levels more quickly than the Intensive program. Students will study General English and IELTS Preparation for 35 hours per week (46 lessons/week). Students study our primary classes of Reading & Writing, Listening & Speaking in addition to IELTS Preparation. CLLC’s Elective Plus One class is also included and gives students the opportunity to focus on additional language skills that are different from their primary classes.

Spend an Academic Semester or Year in Montreal and unlock your full potential. You’ll develop the fluency and accuracy you need to use the English language correctly and with confidence across all four key language skills. Taking the time to seriously focus on your English language skills will open up unlimited opportunities for you. This program is for students who study for 24 weeks or more. This course includes General English classes, and also allows you to personalize your course by taking an additional 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of electives.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Our foundation program offers a comprehensive communicative approach to learning English. The objective is to rapidly improve your English fluency through the development of the four essential language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. The mornings (periods 1 to 4) focus on developing core English skills in language structure and oral communication.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
