Our ESL classes are based on a unique UMC Model that maximizes student-teacher interaction and communicative learning when studying English. Designed and created in UMC, our unique techniques and activities used in the classroom are designed to develop both fluency AND accuracy with the ultimate goal of language production. Each lesson is allocated to different skills such as listening strategies, vocabulary development, reading, writing skills, pronunciation, fluency improvement and so on. That maximizes our 4-week terms and allows you to focus on the core skills you need to become proficient. UMC has official start dates every 4 weeks in Toronto.

We offer General English language courses for all levels, from beginner to proficiency. We also offer timetables that give you the flexibility to choose a course that best suits your needs from 1-36+ weeks. We believe that you will learn faster and more effectively if your lessons are engaging, fun and relevant, that’s why our teachers use a range of techniques and develop classes that are motivating and build your confidence. This will allow time to focus on any areas of weakness. Any weekly programme is influenced not only by the course book syllabus but also by the learning goals and interests of the students in any one group.

Our five month English Academic Semester course aims to get you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Semester course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation.Immerse yourself in the English language and spend a semester studying, getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially produced study materials.

The General English course will cover the four main skills you need to write and speak English(reading, writing, listening and speaking), with an emphasis on practical communication in common situations, such as travelling, shopping, and leisure time.There will be support with grammar and pronunciation, and we will also introduce study skills to help you to become an efficient learner and to keep learning English when you are out of the classroom.

As well as building your confidence and skill in areas including speaking, listening, reading and pronunciation, this course allows you to personalise your learning with extra classes that are focussed on life, study or work-related areas. You will learn aspects of English that are relevant to you at a fast pace.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. The Intensive English Language Course consists of 25 weekly lessons that are divided into 20 general English lessons + 3 optional workshops + 2 additional free-choice specific English lessons. A characteristic of this school is its personal treatment, since, according to the results of your level exam, you will receive a learning program adapted to your learning objectives.

We believe that all learners choose to study the English language for a purpose and our English courses are designed with a sense of that purpose; personal, social, professional, and academic. We also emphasize the importance of learner autonomy, and our courses invite the learner to take responsibility for their progress and help them to develop their learning skills and the ability to develop themselves. This course runs in the mornings and will leave you time to look for an afternoon or evening job.
