English Courses, in Edinburgh

The Combination Course takes place all year round, from Monday to Friday (09.30-13.00 in the UK). Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course. There are two afternoons a week of one-to-one lessons, designed to meet the individual requirements of each student. Prior to the first one-to-one session, students complete a Needs Analysis which helps the teacher to plan the one-to-one lessons according to the student’s specific needs. Teachers then work closely with the student to ensure these needs are being met. All students receive a final report detailing their progress and outlining future areas for attention.

Our Intensive English program offers a fast, enjoyable and effective way to improve your English language skills, whatever your current language level. You have the opportunity to customize your course with specific skills lessons, including business English and exam preparation.The course allows you to quickly achieve English fluency and learn grammar and vocabulary that will be useful in every day English. You can study for as long as you need to, and by doing so will improve your opportunities in future academic and professional endeavours.

Our English Academic Year courses are nine month English courses that aim to take you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Year course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation.Immerse yourself in the English language, and spend a year studying and getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially designed study materials.

IELTS is a highly respected test of English language skills for educational and professional purposes, particularly for students who wish to go to university in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Our IELTS preparation course will teach you valuable English skills and strategies for taking the IELTS exam, helping you to achieve a better score.Learn about the different exam sections, the ways to maximize your exam time, and the types of questions on the IELTS exam. You will also practice reading, writing, listening and speaking, and improve your grammar and vocabulary.This supplementary course aims to give you a strong grasp of general English, while also teaching you for the IELTS exam. We also offer an Intensive Preparation course that gives you a stronger focus on the exam.

The General English and IELTS Preparation Course takes place all year round, from Monday to Friday. Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course. There are three afternoons a week of IELTS preparation lessons.This course focuses on improving students’ English, as well as on developing their exam techniques. At the end of each week, students will be given a progress test. They will also have the opportunity to sit an IELTS exam during the last week of the course(exam must be booked separately.). If the student is planning to take the IELTS exam while studying with CES, they should contact our Examinations Office [email protected] for help with registration online.
