Enhanced English Skills and Scottish Culture 22.5h/week + Social Activities 7.5h/week

This programme is open to anyone seeking to see fast progress and gain confidence in spoken English. You will take greater steps towards obtaining fluency in English.The course includes three components:The Group lessons component give the participants a chance to exchange with people from all over the world and are at various stages of their career. The course aims to give you confidence in communicating in an English-speaking environment. The course is taught in weekly modules focusing on speaking and listening covering essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and common English phrases. You will improve your ability to communicate in English while experiencing the vibrancy and excitement of Edinburgh.
The course will include the following:Grammar activities and vocabulary developmentCommon error correctionPronunciation, rhythm, intonation and stressIdiomatic and colloquial language and phrasal verbsTelling a story – describing and linking words and expressionsDiscussions on UK culture and current affairsReading and Writing skills including letter & report writing, note-taking, register and expressing attitudes & ideas.
The Spoken Performance component concentrates on speaking and listening skills as well as fluency in the afternoon sessions. You will expand your vocabulary and improve your grammar for both professional and everyday purposes

The Scottish Culture component includes an introduction to Edinburgh and Scottish arts, history, politics and broader culture. Teachers will use the Spoken Performance sessions to introduce topics of interest which will be further explored through the Cultural Program. Activities include visits to the National Museum which houses a seven-storey presentation of the Story of Scotland from the deep geological past to the present and culminates in a wonderful rooftop view of the city. Visits to the city’s three National Galleries of Art will allow participants to experience the works of Scottish artists from medieval icon painters, via John Singer Sergeant’s portraiture to the modernist sculptures of Eduardo Paollozzi. Rosslyn Chapel made famous by the novel The Da Vinci Code, is a beautiful architectural example of a 15th century collegiate chapel and one of the few such buildings to survive the Reformation.All participants will receive a certificate of attendance in the end of the programme.

Inlingua Edinburgh is a British Council-accredited language centre for adults located in the heart of beautiful and historical Edinburgh. We have 7 classrooms, all colour-coded (Yellow, Green, Red, Pink, Purple, Orange and Blue). All our students have access to our student lounge including the library, computers with Microsoft Office, tables to work one, a lunch space with a fridge, free coffee machine, a sofa and a television to watch the news and movies.
