This Academic Year Abroad option (AYA) can be between 24 and 48 weeks. Each lesson is 50 minutes long. Recommended start dates: First Monday of January, April and September** 2 additional weekly sessions with an LSI teacher. ATA and AYA programmes differ from shorter courses at LSI because students receive a greater level of academic support and management, including two additional weekly sessions with a teacher. An individual study plan is designed for you to suit your level, individual aims and the duration of your course. We continue to check your progress with regular meetings to make sure you achieve your aims.

The course consists of the 20 morning classes plus 20 afternoon specialised elective lessons per week, allowing students to maximise their study day and develop a wide variety of skills. Our General English Super Intensive course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs.

The TOEFL test is internationally recognised in the English speaking world, highly regarded by companies and a requirement for enrolment at colleges and universities in the USA and Canada. The IELTS Preparation course is aimed at students who need to improve the key language skills needed to score as high as possible in all part of the IELTS exam. Students study 20 lessons of General English lessons (15 hours), and 8 lessons of IELTS preparation lessons (6 hours) each week. They can also combine the course with additional one-to-one lessons of IELTS preparation as required. The International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) is the most established English language assessment exam recognised world-wide by universities, governments, and professional associations. The IELTS Program is essential for students who need a satisfactory IELTS exam score whether it is for university entrance, professional accreditation or immigration purposes.

 The IELTS examination is fast becoming the leading standardised test for English Language globally and the English proficiency test for University admissions in the UK. Our IELTS course aims to prepare students with the skills and strategies needed to undertake the IELTS test with confidence and to succeed in the IELTS examination.  Focussing on the IELTS exam and suitable for students studying for IELTS 5.5 – 7.5, students will practise and develop the skills needed for the exam.  This course is usually recommended for 5-6 weeks. Start dates: we usually have a continuous enrolment policy, this means students can start any Monday, however we would strongly advise to check availability with the school before booking an exam course. Also entry onto these courses is dependent on passing the school pre-test to a sufficient level. A test will be emailed to the student at the time of the booking, however all students will be tested again on arrival. Should students not be at the right level, our directors of studies may suggest they join a General English course until they have reached an adequate level.
