English for Academic Purposes courses provide language instruction for students who wish to study at a university where English is the language of instruction. Language skills addressed include: listening comprehension, fluency development, oral intelligibility, reading, grammar, writing, and vocabulary development for University levels.

From the initial meeting, Berlitz Dublin will assess the overall needs of you, the client, through a systematic Need Analysis. Students follow the Standard Course in the mornings and have Business English lessons three afternoons per week.The Business English lessons are designed for students who wish to improve their communicative proficiency in a business environment. The lessons can be tailored to suit the needs of any particular group of students and focus primarily on the specialised language of Business English.Please note that this course only runs if we have a minimum of 8 students booked.The minimum age is 16 and there is a maximum of 14 students per class. 1 lesson in the UK = 45 minutes1 lesson in Ireland = 55 minutes

Description​General English programmes are suitable for everyone and provide a good foundation in the main linguistic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. With a strong focus on communication skills, these courses also provide a solid foundation in the key skills required in the Trinity College London ISE Examinations as well as Cambridge examinations.The method used is task-based, which means that by the end of each level students are expected to be able to complete a certain amount of tasks through English. There is a central course book and workbook and teachers supplement these using authentic materials such as newspapers, magazines, menus, manuals, brochures and a range of other books.All courses incorporate the use of Digital Interactive Whiteboards, the Internet and audio-visual technology. AwardISI Certificate in English. Intensive CourseThe Intensive Course covers the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and is designed to improve communication in spoken and written English. To build students’ confidence, accuracy and fluency, two class teacher work closely together to provide learner-focused lessons.Classes are held in the mornings and the timetable for our Intensive Course is ideal for students who want free time to join in our social programme, spend time with their friends or work on a part-time basis.

The Methodology and Language Development course in Dublin combines the latest in best practice in general pedagogy with the utilisation of practical online tools for education. It will give participants both a refresher in the areas of lesson planning, classroom management, and content knowledge, as well as introducing some innovations in practice which can be integrated the current context. This course is designed for teachers who are looking to upskill in a number of areas. Teachers who are looking for a revision of best practice, or who are looking for some new ideas in traditional settings will gain from this course, as will teachers who are looking at learning more about the use of technology both in and outside the classroom.

We believe that all learners choose to study English for a purpose and our courses are designed with a sense of that purpose; personal, social, professional and academic. At each stage the exit criteria are those specified in the relevant Integrated Skills Exam (ISE) for ILEP purposes by Trinity College London.All of our courses are project-based which means the students will learn English while working together and making use of technology as a basic tool of communication and a support for language learning. Our course has 15 hours of project-based tuition per week (morning or afternoon).STAGE 1: LIFE SKILLS THROUGH ENGLISH – LEVELS A2 TO B1The initial stage of our course is designed to help people to make a life in Dublin through English and deal successfully with all the situations that will arise at work, at home and socially. It aims to help develop communication skills that consider the cultural as well as the linguistic challenges to successful communication in English.STAGE 2: PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION – LEVELS B1 TO B2The second stage is designed for professionals who are interested in developing their spoken and written communication skills in an international and technology enhanced environment. The aim is to equip participants to communicate effectively in English in order to be able to progress professionally. Dublin is a hub for international technology companies who employ multinational teams to service European markets in the first language. The language of coordination and management in these companies is always English. however, and in order to progress in your career you need to be able to present yourself well and communicate effectively in that language. Effective communication is about more than just the language, it is about engagement with the culture of the company in an appropriate way.STAGE 3: FOUNDATION FOR STUDY THROUGH ENGLISH – LEVELS B2 TO C1The third stage is designed to equip people to make a success of studying in an English speaking country. The aim is to equip participants to communicate effectively in English in order to be able to progress academically. Effective communication is about more than just the language, it is about engaging with the educational culture in an appropriate way. It aims to help develop communication skills that consider the cultural as well as the linguistic challenges to successful studying in an English-speaking institution.

This English course allows Non-EU students to progress through at least two levels over an 8-month period and gain a professional, internationally-recognized English qualification. This English Academic Year can serve as a good foundation in the main linguistic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, with a strong focus on communication. This course has 15 per week and runs in the mornings!!!

Personal Intensive CourseThis course is designed for the professional who wishes to concentrate on particular language skills or work on specific areas of English. The course is tailor-made to suit the exact requirements of the client and all participants complete a Needs Analysis prior to their arrival.

Our Methodology and Language Development course is intended for non-native English teachers who wish to refresh their own language skills and examine different teaching methods and approaches. This course provides opportunities for teachers to discuss and share ideas with colleagues from Europe and beyond.
