This 9 day compact course has 82 individual lessons. Beginner to advanced levels; 9 consecutive days; 1 lesson: 50 minutes; Hours per week: 68 hours 20 minutes. Courses begin: every Saturday. Includes lunchtime lessons with teacher. Ages: 16 +. This course is perfect for those with exacting needs which must be met in a short space of time. Requiring just one week away from the office, this course is ideal for busy professionals and executives who need to prepare for presentation and meetings abroad.

We offer General English language courses for all levels, from beginner to proficiency. We also offer timetables that give you the flexibility to choose a course that best suits your needs from 1-36+ weeks. We believe that you will learn faster and more effectively if your lessons are engaging, fun and relevant, that’s why our teachers use a range of techniques and develop classes that are motivating and build your confidence. This will allow time to focus on any areas of weakness. Any weekly programme is influenced not only by the course book syllabus but also by the learning goals and interests of the students in any one group.

Our International Academic Year Programme is designed for students who want to study for 24 weeks or more. Our standard course lengths are 24, 34 or 44 weeks; however you are able to study for longer if you wish. There are lots of benefits including the freedom to move from one course to another without any additional cost. For example, you could start with a General English programme to improve your overall level and then transfer to a Cambridge Examination Preparation course or an IELTS Preparation programme, depending on your individual needs.

This course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.

St Giles London Highgate offers the International Semester Language Course to students wishing to experience British life and study General English for 6 months or longer. Additional modules also available at St Giles London Highgate are: Cambridge English or IELTS exam preparation, English for Business, English for Art & Design and English for University Studies.

By following a General English language Course, students will increase their accuracy in grammar and will increase their competence and confidence in the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students following the Intensive English Course follow the same programme as those in the General English Course, with the addition of a 6-hour negotiated syllabus. The aim of this English language course is to fill in gaps in the students' knowledge and expertise and to address students’ particular needs.

This General English language course has 20 Lessons per week (4 lessons per day); 1 lesson: 50 minutes; Hours per week: 16 hours 40 minutes; 15 students max. per class: Age 16+. During the lessons you rapidly improve your communication skills in a variety of everyday situations. In 2 lessons each day you will cover the following areas: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation. In a further 2 lessons you concentrate on: speaking, listening, reading, writing. You use a text book and a wide variety of materials and exercises including roleplays, authentic materials, newspapers and magazines. For courses longer than 24 weeks, please refer to the International School Year courses.

This General English language course is made up of 20 lessons per week/15 hours per week that combine language learning with a special focus on developing critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. This is best for students who want to study at a steady pace (Morning classes only)

The 25+ Course is designed to make the best use of a short period of study. We aim to improve students' confidence and accuracy when they speak English. The course includes: English language work with a focus on Spoken English and conversation skills. Lessons are designed to develop confidence in using English in both social and professional situations. An adult environment in a building dedicated to our mature students over the age of 25. Social events and excursion possibilities to help students make the most of their short stay in Chester. Students will complete a questionnaire prior to their course and our staff will design the course programme to reflect their needs. With our small classes learning is highly effective and personalised. The one-to-one lessons can focus on: • General English • work-related English • English for Specific Purposes (ESP).
