Our General English program is designed to help you improve your overall ability in English, in all of the main skill areas. In the morning, you practice speaking, listening, reading and writing in an environment focused on communication. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced user of English, our curriculum is designed to get you talking and using real, natural English. Pronunciation and correction of errors are key components of every course.In the afternoon you may add an elective class to create an Intensive program of study. Weekly tests and month-end skill evaluations ensure that you are guided through the levels towards your ultimate goal of fluency.

The semi-intensive course includes the full core class with Language Development and English Skills, with the addition of three electives per week. This will allow exploration of an extensive range of elective options as well as building on a solid foundation of the language. Our General English Semi-Intensive course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs. These electives are: confident communication, pronunciation, English for journalism, exam skills... among many others.

Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Apart from the 20 L/W of General English that students have, with this option the choice of an elective is available. There are electives suitable for each level, some of the options are: pronunciation, grammar, speaking, English for business, critical response, English for public speaking, English for social media...

ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks.

Our General English courses are designed to help students communicate successfully and confidently in real-life situations. Classes have a maximum of twelve students, to ensure that every student receives personal attention from their teacher. Although classes have a focus on speaking and listening, students have the chance to practise all four skills, helping them reach their full potential. Students can choose to study for anything from 1 to 24 weeks.

This 20 English lessons per week offer greater flexibility – you can study at home for part of the day, spend time exploring the city, or even combine it with private one-to-one lessons for a more intensive and personal experience. Structured like a real university year, our English Language Academic Year course in Vancouver is a nine-month English course that aims to take you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. You'll build invaluable skills for your future and make lasting memories as you explore the new city and culture around you. Our Intensive Academic Year course allows you to maximize your classroom time, with extra lessons focusing on specific skills such as business English, academic English, literature or TOEFL/IELTS preparation. This course has 20 hours of lessons per week.

As well as taking lessons, you will have plenty of time to sight-see and explore your destination. The course is semi-intensive, and is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced, with classes made up of different levels. The focus is on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking, and all our schools offer extensive and varied activities programs to help you make the most of your destination.
