Studying a General English language course in ACET will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from a beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This course is held in the afternoons.

Students will learn all the essentials of the English language through a task-based methodology with this General English language course. Our Afternoon Study and Work English language Programme is for students who wish to study long-term (25 weeks) and gain permission to work part-time during their program. Students will learn all the essentials of the English language through a task-based methodology with this General English language course. While the communicative approach is central, we also consider the individual learning style of our students to ensure they achieve the best possible learning outcomes. All four English language skills, reading, writing, listening, and speaking, are given the appropriate class time through our tailored academic syllabus. This course runs in the mornings!!!

Course Aim: To prepare students to communicate and function effectively in a business environment through the English language. Course Description: The Business English course focuses on developing your ability to use English in the context of work and international business. It is perfect for you if you wish to further your Business English skills and wish to become more confident in your interaction with both clients and business colleagues. The course ensures you are well-equipped to function effectively in a business environment. The Business English course is suitable for you if you are already working and need English in work, or if you are studying Business and will need English in the future.  

Course Aim: To prepare students for the Academic IELTS Examination by developing general and academic English language skills and providing a thorough preparation for the IELTS exam. Course Description: IELTS (International Language Testing System) measures your ability to use academic English and is the entry requirement for those students wishing to study in an English-speaking university. The IELTS course is ideal if you are planning to attend university in an English-speaking country or if you are a professional who requires proof of your level of English.  Our courses are suited to both lower (4.5 -5.5) and higher  (6.0-7.5) level IELTS students. The IELTS preparation course aims to develop your general English language and skills knowledge while also providing thorough preparation in the format of the IELTS exam. Classes focus on the format of the exam (both general and academic as required) and on improving test-taking techniques. Through integrated exam practice you will strengthen your ability to respond effectively to exam tasks and maximize your IELTS score. The course covers all of the main areas needed to get a better score on the speaking, reading, writing and listening sections of the IELTS test. 

The General English Afternoon course offered by Cork English Academy is a 15 hours per week module which runs Monday to Friday 13:45 to 17:00 with a 15 minutes break each day.The daily three hour lesson covers all of the English language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The main focus of the General English 15 hour course is on communication skills in real life settings.Course books, workbooks and supplementary material including authentic materials such as newspaper articles newspapers, DVDs, the Internet, books and other media are utilized by the teacher to meet the language needs of all the individuals in the class.
