Our five month English Academic Semester course aims to get you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Semester course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation. Immerse yourself in the English language and spend a semester studying, getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially produced study materials. The Compact Course offers 20 lessons (15 hours) of general English lessons per week in the UK. Lessons will improve all your key skills at a consistent rate: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You will be assigned to your general English class based on your current Kings Level. We have classes suitable for students at Level 1 (Beginner) right through to Level 8 (Advanced), and you will progress up through the levels as your skills improve and your confidence grows. The Compact Course is available year-round with weekly start dates, and is suitable for students of all English levels.

Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing.Course contentThe morning and afternoon sessions will focus on helping you develop your general English language skills through a variety of useful and engaging materials and activities. Every week will include:Grammar and vocabulary carefully selected by your trainer based on your needs and goals. You will practise these throughout the weekA focus on speaking, with the majority of your classes designed to maximise your speaking timeExtended fluency activities including discussions, role-plays and presentations. These will give you the opportunity to develop your speaking further and bring together the grammar, vocabulary and skills you have worked on during the weekListening and reading activities from a range of sourcesA focus on writing skills, for example formal and informal emailsPronunciation. The General English Course at ELC Eastbourne is designed to give you the confidence to communicate effectively in real-life situations. The course provides effective English language training for people who need English for work, further study,travel/tourism or for your own pleasure. In addition, it can help provide preparation for a number of exams including IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, KET and PET. There is a balanced programme, focusing on the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, whilst covering essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms and colloquial language.

Teacher training courses will provide you with all the necessary language teaching skills, techniques, knowledge and training to be an effective modern teacher.

This course is designed for people who want to improve their English level and also develop their skills for using English in a business environment. It combines 20 morning lessons of General English with 8 afternoon lessons focusing on English for Business and students can study for between 2 and 12 weeks.Topics covered will include managing business meetings, negotiations, using the telephone for business, giving presentations and writing professional reports, emails and letters. Students can also choose to prepare for the Cambridge Business English Certificate (BEC) during the course.

By following a General English language Course, students will increase their accuracy in grammar and will increase their competence and confidence in the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students following the Intensive English Course follow the same programme as those in the General English Course, with the addition of a 6-hour negotiated syllabus. The aim of this English language course is to fill in gaps in the students' knowledge and expertise and to address students’ particular needs.

This General English language course is made up of 20 lessons per week/15 hours per week that combine language learning with a special focus on developing critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. This is best for students who want to study at a steady pace (Morning classes only)

This Academic Year Abroad option (AYA) can be between 24 and 48 weeks. Each lesson is 50 minutes long.
