Students follow our Core Programme in the morning, then afternoon lessons focusing on British life and culture through mainly authentic materials. The afternoon classes introduce students to “real” English from a variety of sources, such as video, radio, magazine and newspaper articles, TV programmes and literature. For lower level students, there is greater emphasis on functional language and real situations that are of immediate use, such as shopping, changing money, booking tickets etc. Students can carry out real life tasks outside the school and may also visit local places of interest. This course is tailor-made to suit the participants – teachers consult students on areas that interest them most and choose topics accordingly. Monday, for example, is often a “news” day based around events of the weekend.
