The Intensive English course syllabus is based on the need for accuracy in spoken English. The Intensive course is 26 hours per week, and includes the General English programme (20 hours) and a further 6 hours per week taken over two afternoons with a focus on discourse structure and oral fluency. During the afternoon sessions, students may request areas of improvement in negotiation with the teacher and other students.

This General English course of 16 hours (16 x 60 minutes) per week takes place in the morning, from 09.00 to 1.30, Monday to Thursday in our Bray school.Students may begin each Monday. It is based on a 12 week cycle, during which time student’s progress through a set course book at the relevant level. Teachers help them progress through this level using regular progress tests and a checklist based on the Common European Framework of Reference, CEFR, for Languages to ensure that all functions and skills are covered at that level.

The General English course syllabus is 20 hours per week and is designed to improve the students' understanding of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students may begin each Monday on a continuous enrollment system. All levels from elementary to advanced are catered for throughout the year. By the end of the course, students will see an overall improvement in their standard of English and improved confidence in their language ability. ATC offers free lessons for students which take place 3 afternoons per week, available for all General English students.

Students can prepare for the Cambridge C1 Advanced Exam with ATC Language Schools in Bray in the summer, and stay with a local host family.The Cambridge English Qualifications are recognised worldwide by governments, employers, universities and colleges. The exam focuses on the 4 key skills of English, reading, writing, listening and speaking.ATC’s summer preparation course is 4 weeks long. The timetable includes 20 hours of lessons per week. The course will offer intensive exam preparation to develop the language skills and examination techniques needed for this exam. Students should have a minimum B2+ level of English, as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR).
