The Academic Year (Study & Work) programme is suitable for students outside of the EU who are interested in a long term language stay in Ireland.Students from outside of the EU will need to be registered on a specific course called an Academic Year Programme (often called Study and Work Programme).Cork English Academy Academic Year Programmes are in line with Immigration guidelines for international students.The Academic Year Programme allows international students stay in Ireland for 8 months and must include at minimum: - 25 week course- 15 hour course per week - An official English language exam ( TIE, IELTS and FCE exam must be chosen at time of booking).Please consider this information before booking an Academic Year as we will need to know your final exam choice at time of booking and before you start your course. No changes to courses or final exam choice can be made after you start your course.An Academic Year Programme can be renewed for a maximum of 2 times allowing international students stay in Ireland for a total of 3 x 8 month periods (24 months/2 years) subject to Immigration permission. COURSE25 weeks General English leading to TIEThe daily General English lessons covers all of the English language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The main focus of the General English courses is on communication skills in real life settings.RIGHT TO WORKNon-EEA students who are permitted to reside in the State on a stamp 2 immigration permission are allowed to avail of a work concession. Under this concession a student may work in Ireland in a casual part-time capacity without a work permit.Students holding a valid immigration stamp 2 permission will be permitted work 40 hours per week only during the months of June, July, August and September and from 15 December to 15 January inclusive. At all other times students holding Immigration permission Stamp 2 will be limited to working 20 hours per week.AWARDSAll students who successfully complete the programme receive the Cork English Academy Certificate in English. Non-EU students must also complete an official examination at the end of the programme (in thsi case TIE). REQUIREMENTSStudents should be from a non-EU country, age 18 + with at least a basic knowledge of English (A1 level). Students are required to have an attendance of at least 85% throughout their course and to sit an official exam during their programme.

This English language Academic Year commonly known as the Work and Study Programme in Ireland is designed for students from outside of the EU. You can work and study in Ireland with this 8-month course. The structure of this course is: during the first 6 months you will receive English language lessons that will take you as far as possible in the learning curve. And then, you will have 2 months of vacation in which you will be able to enroll in any other forms of activities. This course runs in the mornings and also prepares you to do the IELTS test.
The General English Afternoon course offered by Cork English Academy is a 15 hours per week module which runs Monday to Friday 13:45 to 17:00 with a 15 minutes break each day.The daily three hour lesson covers all of the English language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The main focus of the General English 15 hour course is on communication skills in real life settings.Course books, workbooks and supplementary material including authentic materials such as newspaper articles newspapers, DVDs, the Internet, books and other media are utilized by the teacher to meet the language needs of all the individuals in the class.

The General English Course GE15 is a 15 hours per week module which runs Monday to Friday in the morning for three hours each day. This leaves you free for the remainder of the day to join the Social Activity Programme offered by Cork English Academy, study in our self access facilities or explore Cork and the surrounding areas.The daily three hour lesson covers all of the English language skills–speaking, listening, reading and writing with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The main focus of the General English 15 hour course is on communication skills in real life settings. Course books, workbooks and supplementary material including authentic materials such as newspaper articles newspapers, DVDs, the Internet, books and other media are utilized by the teacher to meet the language needs of all the individuals in the class.
