Teacher Training - How to maximise learning on field trips (APP-FT5)Students and teachers alike enjoy field trips as they take the learning out of the classroom, bringing the curriculum to life. As well as being fun, field trips must allow for interesting, valuable and safe teaching and learning experiences. This course will look at aspects of planning, organising and undertaking field trips through whole-class discussion and practical applications. You will make a pre-trip and learning trip to at least one place of interest in Malta. The pre-trip will allow you to get a feel for the establishment, allowing you to think about making some interesting resources for your students. The second learning trip will give you, and your colleagues, the opportunity to try out and assess your planned learning resources.Course programme overview: Why field trips?, Planning for safety, Pre-trips and Pre-Learning, Learning Resources, Trip Day

Alpha School of English was established in 1991 in the popular seaside resort of St. Paul's Bay in the north of Malta. The school is very close to all amenities - banks, post office, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, cinemas, etc. It is on a direct bus route to the capital city of Valletta and the old capital of Mdina, as well as to most areas of interest in Malta. It is also the closest school to Malta's sandy beaches which are mainly located in the north of the island. The area is safe and very popular with British tourists, ensuring that students have plenty of opportunity to listen to spoken English outside school hours.
Saint Paul's Bay, Malta - Being a quieter town in comparison to its neighbours, St Paul’s Bay still retains a little Maltese village life, with a higher concentration of Maltese people living there permanently. Buġibba and Qawra are a little more popular among foreigners living in Malta and more summer residences are bought by the locals there as well. The village is home to one of Malta’s water polo clubs and holds a festa (village feast) in July, offering a little taste of Maltese culture.
