English Courses

The exam preparation courses are design to help you achieve the result needed in your chosen language exam. These official language exams are used as a proof of language proficiency for immigration purposes, university admissions, or for employment. In this course you will learn and develop test-taking strategies and skills.

The General English Language Course develops your core language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) so that you can speak English confidently and apply practical English skills to communicate in everyday situations. Mercury Colleges uses the most up to date curriculum and incorporates eLearning for interesting activities and practice. Along your journey towards learning English as a second language, our highly experienced. Our General English courses are suitable for students from Elementary through to Advanced level.

This course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.

Our General English program is designed to help you improve your overall ability in English, in all of the main skill areas. In the morning, you practice speaking, listening, reading and writing in an environment focused on communication. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced user of English, our curriculum is designed to get you talking and using real, natural English. Pronunciation and correction of errors are key components of every course. In the afternoon you may add an elective class to create an Intensive program of study. The Study Year Programme offers a comprehensive and flexible English language programme to help you prepare for your future and gain internationally recognised exam qualifications. It is designed specifically for long-term students who will study English in England for 6 months or more. This programme allows you to follow a wide range of ELC Eastbourne courses, including General English, Cambridge English exams (FCE & CAE), IELTS and Introduction to Business English.

A general English language course aimed at students who would like to improve their communication skills in English! This course is suitable if you wish to develop your Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills for use in everyday situations. Students have the option of taking lessons either in the mornings, or in the afternoons. Available for all levels, and offered all year round.

In this General English language course you will join multi-national language classes following a syllabus closely mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, covering key language domains, skills and competencies appropriate to your level of ability. Objectives: This programme of study is intended to enhance the all-round language and communication skills of those who wish to work or study more effectively in an international context. You will improve your language skills and also enhance your inter-cultural communication.

The Fluency Intensive option is one of our Intensive English Courses in Malta. This course combines 20 lessons of General English in the mornings with 6 lessons of individual training in the afternoon. Before beginning their intensive general English course, students will complete an extensive needs analysis and interview with our Academic Manager to design their individual afternoon program. Our Intensive English Courses allow students to make remarkable progress from their very first class. The morning sessions give students the opportunity to learn as a group and practice their skills with other learners. The afternoon sessions allow each student to individually meet with their teacher so that personal strengths and weaknesses can be focused on.
