English Courses

General English Language Courses at Lexis English offer students the flexibility of combining their English language education with a large range of options classes – personalising each student’s course to suit their academic needs. For students wanting to brush up their English skills for travelling, employment or to work towards a placement in one of our academic programs or Certificate or Diploma courses, our General English course is designed to get results. We understand that every english student comes to Australia with unique goals, plans and learning needs. Lexis 360° is our student care program designed to ensure that all Lexis students receive individual support and attention, initiating the most successful study experience possible. General English Part-Time is CRICOS registered and consists of a minimum of 15 hours per week.

By following a General English group course of 30 lessons per week, you develop all your core language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and improve your general level of English and understanding in all areas of language knowledge. This means that you study and improve grammar in context, expand your vocabulary around everyday topics and improve your pronunciation. By the end of your course, you can expect to be a more confident and fluent user of English. 

This semi-intensive General English language course is made up of 25 lessons per week/18.7 hours per week that combine language learning with a special focus on developing critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. This is best for students who want a combination of morning and mid-day classes.

This course includes the General English classes, and also allows you to personalise your course by taking an additional 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of electives. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. As your English and your confidence improve, you will broaden your horizons and gain a huge advantage in your chosen career or education. This programme is for students who study for 24 weeks or more.

This General English language course is made up of 20 lessons per week/15 hours per week that combine language learning with a special focus on developing critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. This is best for students who want to study at a steady pace (Morning classes only)

The Intensive General English Language evening course focuses on improving your all-round English and in particular your communication skills. Our focus is on students interacting and communicating with each other and getting you to use the language you learn to make you more fluent and confident in English. Evening classes are a popular choice with students who are working during the day. Our city centre location, directly opposite the train station, makes it easy for students to travel between work and school.

The semi-intensive course includes the full core class with Language Development and English Skills, with the addition of three electives per week. This will allow exploration of an extensive range of elective options as well as building on a solid foundation of the language. Our General English Semi-Intensive course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs.

Our five month English Academic Semester course aims to get you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Semester course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation.Immerse yourself in the English language and spend a semester studying, getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially produced study materials.

Our General English Language course is designed so that you can learn English developing the four essential macro-skills (Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening) in a vibrant, engaging and interactive environment. We mix face-to-face delivery with the latest technology and extracurricular activities to help you enhance your English skills quickly and easily. Our teachers are accomplished professionals who can guarantee that your academic progress is seamless and consistent.

This course runs in the mornings and will leave you time to look for an afternoon or evening job.
