St Giles Brighton offers the International Semester language Course to students wishing to experience British life and study General English for 6 months or longer. Additional modules also available at St Giles Brighton are: Cambridge English, IELTS or TOEFL exam preparation, English for Business, English for Tourism and English for University Studies.

Studying our Extra Intensive General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from Lower-intermediate to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing. This 40 lesson course is an intensive General Main English course with 2 different levels in the morning and afternoon. It is useful for students who have a limited time that they can study in the UK. .

This General English language course is composed of: 10 lessons per week; 1 lesson: 50 minutes; 15 Students maximum per class. Course length: 1-50 weeks. Hours per week: 8 hours 20 minutes. Ages 16+. This course is suitable for students who wish to improve their fluency, vocabulary and pronunciation in a language. There is an emphasis on language for everyday situations and classes may involve discussing topics such as film and theatre, current events, politics, local culture and the internet.

The Study Year Programme offers a comprehensive and flexible English language programme to help you prepare for your future and gain internationally recognised exam qualifications. It is designed specifically for long-term students who will study English in England for 6 months or more. This programme allows you to follow a wide range of ELC Eastbourne courses, including General English, Cambridge English exams (FCE & CAE), IELTS and Introduction to Business English.

Our English Academic Year courses are nine month English courses that aim to take you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Year course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation.Immerse yourself in the English language, and spend a year studying and getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially designed study materials.

The 50+ Course enables students to practise their English, explore the region, meet new people and make new friends. The course includes language development and an inclusive social programme. Our aim is to help students enjoy learning and using English. We also help them to discover our beautiful region. In the mornings, for 20 lessons (15 hours) per week, you will study English in a multi-national 50+ class at your level. In the afternoons and weekends you will join the dedicated 50+ social programme. You'll need to choose the duration of the course, between 2 and 4 weeks.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The Combination English Course takes place all year round, from Monday to Friday (09.30-13.00 in the UK). Morning lessons follow the same programme as the Standard Course. There are two afternoons a week of one-to-one lessons, designed to meet the individual requirements of each student. Prior to the first one-to-one session, students complete a Needs Analysis which helps the teacher to plan the one-to-one lessons according to the student’s specific needs. Teachers then work closely with the student to ensure these needs are being met. All students receive a final report detailing their progress and outlining future areas for attention.

International House Newcastle uses communicative methodology so students learn to use English effectively, especially in the vital skills of speaking and listening! Students may start their General English classes on any Monday. These classes are available at all levels - from complete beginner to advanced. All students will receive: a weekly work plan devised by their teachers; a weekly progress update; personal tutorials on a regular basis; course materials, including a study pack. Each lesson (teaching hour) is 55 minutes long, so there are scheduled break periods that take this into account. Our general class size is 12 students maximum (8 students on average). Actual timetable will depend on student's level, course and the number of lessons booked. Lessons will be scheduled between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
