Our English Teaching Methodology course is designed for non-native teachers of English who want to improve or refresh their skills. The course covers a broad range of EFL topics and the most recent developments in English language teaching. Topics typically include: Methods and Approaches Motivation Functions and Meaning Materials Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening Teaching Roles Grammar Lexis Checking Understanding Phonology Computers in EFL Teaching Beginners Learner Strategies Personal Development. English Teaching Methodology is available to Groups only. A teaching qualification is required to enrol on this course.

COURSE CONTENTThe course is a mixture of practice & theory120 contact hours6 hours of assessed teaching practice for each trainee6 hours of observation of experienced teachersA minimum of 80 additional learning hours for reading, research, assignment writing and lesson preparationCourse content and assessment is the same, whether the course is taken online or face-to-faceAll Stafford House CELTA courses cover the following:Input sessions You will attend input sessions on methodology and practice given by our tutors to the whole group of trainees. These will equip you with theoretical and practical knowledge and ideas to inform and plan your lessons. (Input will be online for the Online CELTA.)Teaching practice (TP) You will teach for a total of six hours, working with classes at two or three levels of ability. This will involve the planning and delivery of lessons observed by your TP tutor and colleagues, which will be immediately followed by a written self-evaluation, and feedback and comments from you, your tutor and colleagues.Assignments You will complete four written assignments of 750-1000 words.Observations You will watch full-hour lessons taught by experienced teachers while you take notes on methodology and practice.APPLICATION REQUIREMENTSIf you are interested in achieving a CELTA you should consider these entry requirements and standard English levels.English language proficiency at C1 or C2 Cambridge English levelsMinimum age of 18Similar education experience needed for higher educationThe potential to become an effective English Language teacherThe ability to complete assignments and assessmentsThe ability to research and understand grammarAdequate competence in written and spoken EnglishSpecial Early bird price: £1195!Early bird price applies if the course is paid in full 21 days before the start date.

Teacher training courses will provide you with all the necessary language teaching skills, techniques, knowledge and training to be an effective modern teacher.

Any of the Delta modules can be taken separately. Even if you have already completed a module with another school, you can study your remaining modules with IH London. Before your course starts you will be asked to complete Delta Preparation Tasks and readings.

Teacher Training - How to maximise learning on field trips (APP-FT5)Students and teachers alike enjoy field trips as they take the learning out of the classroom, bringing the curriculum to life. As well as being fun, field trips must allow for interesting, valuable and safe teaching and learning experiences.This course will look at aspects of planning, organising and undertaking field trips through whole-class discussion and practical applications.You will make a pre-trip and learning trip to at least one place of interest in Malta. The pre-trip will allow you to get a feel for the establishment, allowing you to think about making some interesting resources for your students. Aimed at speakers of other languages, this course equips students with the basic tools required to teach English as a Foreign Language.Topics covered: Language analysis; Lesson planning; teaching the skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking; classroom activities; using resources and materials; looking at learners’ needs; dealing with learners’ mistakes.
