This General English language course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.

Spend an Academic Semester or Year in Montreal and unlock your full potential. You’ll develop the fluency and accuracy you need to use the English language correctly and with confidence across all four key language skills. Taking the time to seriously focus on your English language skills will open up unlimited opportunities for you. This program is for students who study for 24 weeks or more. This course includes General English classes, and also allows you to personalize your course by taking an additional 4 lessons per week across a wide selection of electives

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

This General English language course is only available to students studying in the USA or Canada. You get 24 lessons (18 hours) per week of General English including four lessons per week in your choice of Special Focus study. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing. UMC has official start dates every 8 weeks in Montreal. Students are allowed to start anytime they want, but they need to be advised about the calendar. We do not recommend they start on the last week of the terms because you'll only review the content and take the final exam.
