Homestay is a popular accommodation choice because students are exposed to English and can practise further beyond the classroom. It also offers an insight into the lifestyles of South Africans.South African people are known for their hospitality, and our host families particularly enjoy meeting people from around the world and making students feel part of the family.Homestay (breakfast & dinner)This is our most popular option as it provides a great opportunity to get to know a South African family and to chat over dinner. Students mostly help themselves to breakfast and have dinner together with the family. Depending on their personal schedule, families are not always able to join students for dinner but do provide dinner every day.DetailsFamily status: The host family may be a single woman, a singleparent family, a young family, a working couple or a retired couple. The host family can be of a different religious, ethnic and racial group.Type of home: In the area around the Newlands school, most families live in private houses with gardens, often with a swimming pool.
