Our standard General English language course allows you to improve all areas of your English language: grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading and writing. General English is available as an intensive course (28 lessons per week). For the intensive course you can choose from our optional classes which include Communication Skills, Grammar and Writing, IELTS Preparation and many more. You can select these optional classes in the booking menu. On the Intensive courses, you will: - Learn ‘real’ English using the latest course books and materials. - Learn, review and put into practice new language every day. - Be able to develop your communication skills by working with other students doing activities such as role-plays, pair work and group discussions. - Explore new techniques to help you improve your listening and reading. - Practise and improve your writing skills by analysing and producing documents such as emails, formal and informal letters and reports. - Have regular tutorials with your teacher to discuss your progress. - Get up to 2 hours of homework each evening. The options are: Basic Communication Skills; Communication Skills; Grammar and Writing Workshop; Medical English; IELTS Preparation (Academic); Academic Writing; Cambridge First Preparation; Cambridge Advanced Preparation.

Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing. Course content: The morning and afternoon sessions will focus on helping you develop your general English language skills through a variety of useful and engaging materials and activities. Every week will include: Grammar and vocabulary carefully selected by your trainer based on your needs and goals. You will practise these throughout the week. A focus on speaking, with the majority of your classes designed to maximise your speaking time. Extended fluency activities including discussions, role-plays and presentations. These will give you the opportunity to develop your speaking further and bring together the grammar, vocabulary and skills you have worked on during the week. Listening and reading activities from a range of sources. A focus on writing skills, for example formal and informal emails. Pronunciation. This may be in the form of a dedicated lesson and/or connected to the grammar, vocabulary or skills you are studying. Practical communication strategies, for example agreeing and disagreeing politely, interrupting, and showing sympathy. A focus on social and intercultural English. Correction and productive feedback on your speaking and writing.

This General English language course has 30 Lessons per week; 15 students maximum; 1 lesson: 50 minutes; Hours per week: 25 hours; Age 16+. The LSI Intensive 30 course concentrates on all the areas that you need to achieve much greater fluency in a short period of time. This course is suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well-rounded insight into the language and country. Students on the LSI Intensive 30 course study the same lessons as described for General 20 in the morning. During the afternoon there are a range of electives to suit all levels, needs and interests. The Intensive Course is our most popular choice. It combines 20 general English lessons (15 hours) with 8 Special Interest Group (SIG) lessons per week (6 hours). In the general English lessons, students will focus on improving their English language skills across the 4 key skill areas at a consistent rate — reading, writing, listening and speaking. In the Special Interest Group lessons, students can choose from a number of different options based on their own interests and language learning goals. Example options include — Exam Preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge); Business English; Group Discussion; Art and Design; Speech and Pronunciation; Academic Writing Skills; etc. The Intensive Course is available year-round with weekly start dates, and is suitable for students of all English levels.

These sessions include language review and support, professional development and college/university application support.* Beginner to Upper Intermediate levels#* Max class size: 16 students* Age 16+* Course options: General English Courses, Exam courses, Academic English, Pathways, Business English* Regular testing, academic counselling and assistance with university placementSpend up to a year abroad, achieve a high level of fluency in your chosen language and make new friends from all over the world. ATA and AYA programmes differ from shorter courses at LSI because students receive a greater level of academic support and management, including two additional weekly sessions with a teacher. An individual study plan is designed for you to suit your level, individual aims and the duration of your course. We continue to check your progress with regular meetings to make sure you achieve your aims.

St Giles London Highgate offers the International Semester language Course to students wishing to experience British life and study General English for 6 months or longer. Additional modules also available at St Giles London Highgate are: Cambridge English or IELTS exam preparation, English for Business, English for Art & Design and English for University Studies.

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. This General English language course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.

If you are aged 30+ with a current English language level of A2 - C2 (pre-intermediate to proficiency) and would like to improve your English in smaller classes, this is the course for you! You will study in groups of maximum 8 students who are of a similar age to you and you will develop networking opportunities. The course includes lunch twice per week with your teacher and fellow classmates, to allow you to continue the conversation outside of the classroom.
