Our General English program is ideal for all English language learners, from absolute beginners to advanced proficiency. Classes cover everything from reading and writing to speaking and listening, as well as vocabulary, idioms, grammar, and pronunciation. Our outstanding teachers and small class sizes create an optimal learning environment. New students can start any Monday!

This course includes the General English classes, and also allows you to personalise your course by taking an additional 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of electives. You will benefit from excellent guidance, monitoring and feedback throughout this course. As your English and your confidence improve, you will broaden your horizons and gain a huge advantage in your chosen career or education. This programme is for students who study for 24 weeks or more.

ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks.

Our foundation program offers a comprehensive communicative approach to learning English. The objective is to rapidly improve your English fluency through the development of the four essential language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. The mornings (periods 1 to 4) focus on developing core English skills in language structure and oral communication. The afternoons (periods 5 to 7) offer the choice of Elective Workshops (which can be changed weekly allowing you to customize the program to your needs) or Focussed Courses (higher level students only) where you can concentrate on areas of special interest and customize your studies to meet your needs. At 32 lessons per week students may take 2 workshops or 1 focussed course.

Studying a General English course will give you an understanding of the English language and take you all the way from beginner to fluency. This course focuses on communication skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

This course develops all aspects of language competence in a personalised programme coordinated by the core teacher. Our General English Morning 20 course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using skills-based and situational learning combined with one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs. Our ESL classes are based on a unique UMC Model that maximizes student-teacher interaction and communicative learning when studying English. Designed and created in UMC, our unique techniques and activities used in the classroom are designed to develop both fluency AND accuracy with the ultimate goal of language production. Each lesson is allocated to different skills such as listening strategies, vocabulary development, reading, writing skills, pronunciation, fluency improvement and so on. That maximizes our 4-week terms and allows you to focus on the core skills you need to become proficient. UMC has official start dates every 4 weeks in Toronto.

This is the most popular English language course at CES Toronto. The Standard General English Language Course takes place every morning from Monday to Friday. English lessons concentrate on building your knowledge of the English language, focusing primarily on helping you increase your vocabulary and improve your grammar so that you attain the levels of accuracy you require. Lessons also work on improving your overall communicative proficiency and fluency, focusing on the four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. In addition to this, you will work on specific pronunciation difficulties and expand the range of language you use in real-life situations.

Our Semi-Intensive English language course is a semi-intensive programme that allows you to balance classroom tuition with structured study and free time activities. You will improve your English language ability at a speed you feel comfortable with, while having time to enjoy your destination. This course is available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced and you will be placed in a class which is suitable for your level. The course focuses on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. You’ll also learn vocabulary and grammar, and how to speak in formal and informal discussions and strategies.

CLLC’s Semi Intensive Program gives students flexibility to study 15 hours per week (20 lessons/ week) of quality English language instruction. Students can choose from Reading & Writing, Listening & Speaking, IELTS Preparation or Business English as their primary class while studying the Semi Intensive Program.
