English Courses

Our five month English Academic Semester course aims to get you from your current level of English up to a very high level of fluency. As well as this general English course, you can choose an Intensive Academic Semester course, in which you will study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation.Immerse yourself in the English language and spend a semester studying, getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially produced study materials.

Intensive English consists of Standard English in the mornings combined with English for Life lessons in the afternoon. Intensive courses will prepare you for life in an increasingly English-speaking world. You will develop the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills you need to feel more confident as you interact in a range of everyday situations in English. You will also have a chance to discuss interesting topics for 21st century life.

Based on an integrated skill curriculum, core classes teach students specific strategies to improve their English while electives reinforce the core language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Eight language benchmark levels accommodate student progression from a beginner learner with little English skill to advanced language proficiency.

The 25+ Course is designed to make the best use of a short period of study. We aim to improve students' confidence and accuracy when they speak English. The course includes: English language work with a focus on Spoken English and conversation skills. Lessons are designed to develop confidence in using English in both social and professional situations. An adult environment in a building dedicated to our mature students over the age of 25. Social events and excursion possibilities to help students make the most of their short stay in Chester. Students will complete a questionnaire prior to their course and our staff will design the course programme to reflect their needs. With our small classes learning is highly effective and personalised. The one-to-one lessons can focus on: • General English • work-related English • English for Specific Purposes (ESP). We can provide specialised training in areas such as: • tourism management • customer services • marketing • teacher training (including CLIL and methodology) • human resources • finance • journalism

Our Intensive Academic Year courses are 9 month English courses that will improve your English fluency to the highest level, with more lessons than our general English Academic Year course. As well as learning important general English, you can choose to study specific sections of vocabulary and skills, such as Business Intensive and exam preparation.Immerse yourself in the English language, and spend a year studying and getting to know a new location and culture. The course is an effective way to increase your fluency, and you will be helped by our exclusive and specially designed study materials.

General English Language Afternoon Courses at Lexis English offer students the flexibility of combining their English language education with a large range of options classes – personalising each student’s course to suit their academic needs. For students wanting to brush up their English skills for travelling, employment or to work towards a placement in one of our academic programs or Certificate or Diploma courses, our General English course is designed to get results. We understand that every english student comes to Australia with unique goals, plans and learning needs. Lexis 360° is our student care program designed to ensure that all Lexis students receive individual support and attention, initiating the most successful study experience possible. General English Full-Time is CRICOS registered and consists of a minimum of 20 hours per week with an additional 5 hours per week of Guided Individual Learning (GIL).

Our Bespoke English Language programs identify and target individual student needs and prepare them to confidently use English for general communication in a wide range of situations, including travel, work and social interaction. Students are taught essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening skills through interesting topics such as: Countries and Cultures Ambitions and Dreams Leisure and Lifestyle Memory Future Society

The afternoon General English language course is a less grammar intensive, diverse range of classes allowing specialisation in a variety of elective English subjects. Through the use of elective lessons, our afternoon course allows students to focus their language learning on specific skills they'd like to improve.
