The General English Language Course develops your core language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) so that you can speak English confidently and apply practical English skills to communicate in everyday situations. Mercury Colleges uses the most up to date curriculum and incorporates eLearning for interesting activities and practice. Our General English courses are suitable for students from Elementary through to Advanced level.

This course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.

Our General English program is designed to help you improve your overall ability in English, in all of the main skill areas. In the morning, you practice speaking, listening, reading and writing in an environment focused on communication. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced user of English, our curriculum is designed to get you talking and using real, natural English. Pronunciation and correction of errors are key components of every course. In the afternoon you may add an elective class to create an Intensive program of study. Among these electives, you'll find: conversation strategies, pronunciation, listening plus, power writing...

A general English language course aimed at students who would like to improve their communication skills in English! This course is suitable if you wish to develop your Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills for use in everyday situations. Students have the option of taking lessons either in the mornings, or in the afternoons. Available for all levels, and offered all year round.

In this General English language course you will join multi-national language classes following a syllabus closely mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, covering key language domains, skills and competencies appropriate to your level of ability. Objectives: This programme of study is intended to enhance the all-round language and communication skills of those who wish to work or study more effectively in an international context. You will improve your language skills and also enhance your inter-cultural communication.

The Fluency Intensive option is one of our Intensive English Courses in Malta. This course combines 20 lessons of General English in the mornings with 6 lessons of individual training in the afternoon. Before beginning their intensive general English course, students will complete an extensive needs analysis and interview with our Academic Manager to design their individual afternoon program. Our Intensive English Courses allow students to make remarkable progress from their very first class. The morning sessions give students the opportunity to learn as a group and practice their skills with other learners. The afternoon sessions allow each student to individually meet with their teacher so that personal strengths and weaknesses can be focused on.

We offer General English language courses for all levels, from beginner to proficiency. We also offer timetables that give you the flexibility to choose a course that best suits your needs from 1-36+ weeks. We believe that you will learn faster and more effectively if your lessons are engaging, fun and relevant, that’s why our teachers use a range of techniques and develop classes that are motivating and build your confidence. This will allow time to focus on any areas of weakness. Any weekly programme is influenced not only by the course book syllabus but also by the learning goals and interests of the students in any one group.

This General English language course consists of the 20 lessons of the General Main English course plus 8 additional lessons per week which provide further practice in all aspects of English. The timetable below is a sample. Please note that timetables are subject to the English of the student. Classes can be either in the morning or afternoon. Learning Outcomes: by the end of the course students should be able to communicate in English more confidently in different situations outside the classroom.
