General English Language courses at Lexis English offer students the flexibility of combining their English language education with a large range of options classes – personalising each student’s course to suit their academic needs. For students wanting to brush up their English skills for travelling, employment or to work towards a placement in one of our academic programs or Certificate or Diploma courses, our General English course is designed to get results. We understand that every english student comes to Australia with unique goals, plans and learning needs. Lexis 360° is our student care program designed to ensure that all Lexis students receive individual support and attention, initiating the most successful study experience possible. General English Full-Time is CRICOS registered and consists of a minimum of 20 hours per week with an additional 5 hours per week of Guided Individual Learning (GIL).

The General English syllabus is 15 hours (15 x 60) per week and is designed to improve the student's understanding of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. All levels from elementary to advanced are catered for throughout the year. This course runs in the afternoons and is designed for those students who wish to have free time to explore the city or do other activities.

Our part-time ESL program has ten levels that range from beginner to intermediate to advanced classes. Students will take classes that focus on different English language skills such as reading, listening, grammar and communication. As students improve theirs level they can take other language skills such as pronunciation, conversation or writing. 

This innovative English language course from Future Learning Dublin focuses on the development of English language skills through communication, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and digital skills. This English language course is an opportunity for participants to experience Future Learning’s high-quality teaching which promises to foster development and progression. General English courses include speaking, listening, reading and writing lessons and vocabulary and grammar development. Duration: 1- 48 weeks. Morning lessons concentrate on grammatical correctness, vocabulary, speaking and listening skills as well as reading and writing. Many texts are used and students are encouraged to speak as much as possible. Afternoon lessons concentrate on spoken skills, conversation and discussion activities. Games, DVDs, internet and multi-media resources are used as well as situational activities. Speaking, speaking and more speaking!

On the General English 20 Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week (15 hours), which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The Intensive English language course syllabus is based on the need for accuracy in spoken English. The Intensive course is 26 hours per week, and includes the General English program (20 hours) and a further 6 hours per week taken over two afternoons with a focus on discourse structure and oral fluency. During the afternoon sessions, students may request areas of improvement in negotiation with the teacher and other students.

During the lessons you rapidly improve your communication skills in a variety of everyday situations. In 2 lessons each day you will cover the following areas: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation. In a further 2 lessons you concentrate on: speaking, listening, reading, writing. You use a text book and a wide variety of materials and exercises including roleplays, authentic materials, newspapers and magazines. 24 Lessons per week; Beginner to Advanced levels; 1 lesson: 50 minutes; 2 days (6.5 lessons), 3 days (4 lessons).
